My whole day didn't go as planned. It is my first day back. I was run over by a jerk, who can't think of others than himself. I have had to face my friends and find out, they started making friends with him... And my mom can't pick me up because she has to go and buy groceries for dinner tonight. So I have to walk home.
The bell rang, and students streamed out of the school doors. Some made their way to their lockers, or others walked to the gym for sports. Sam, Penny and I walked to our lockers. Penny had to go to tutor some grade 8's in math. And it took me half an hour to convince Sam I'll be fine walking home on my own. But if I knew how my walk home was going to be, I would've told her to come. Because mister big mouth Jordan decided to say his sorry on the way home.
I was in the parking lot, making my way to the main gate when he came running up next to me. The first thing he said, surprised me. He started off with, "Hi, I'm Jordan Daniels. I'm sixteen going on seventeen. I started school in the beginning of this year and I am making with friends with random kids who walk home."
I stopped to a halt, and asked, "Am I a joke to you? Do I look like a clown? Please tell me. Because I don't really feel like talking to you or anyone else right now, and coming to school today was a big massive mistake I made. I thought I was ready but I'm clearly not!" And I walked on.
I heard Jordan walk on too. I ignored him for some time, and after a while a thought I lost him. But when I looked around him, and saw him walking a distance behind me. He was just looking at the ground. He must have noticed me looking at him, because he looked up at me. When I stopped, he did too. "Are you following me?" I said with an attitude that made me feel sorry for him.
"No."
"Then why are you stalking me?" We were facing each other and I could see confusion in his deep, green eyes.
"Just because I'm walking behind you, doesn't mean I following you. I might look like a serial killer, or I might have sounded like I'm trafficking you, but I'm not that kind of person to do that. Now, will you please allow me to walk home?" He said with sadness in his voice. I really felt bad now. He passed me and walked on. I just stood there and after a while, I walked home. When I arrived at home, I saw Jordan a distance away. He walked into his house and then I realized how much I hurt him. He was just trying to start over when he introduced himself. It's something Erik used to imply. If something doesn't work the first time, try, try again. And when he was walking behind me, he was really on his way to his house. I wanted so desperately run over and say sorry. They must have moved here recently while I locked myself up. This day could not get any better.
My mother arrived later that afternoon with a ton of groceries. She said we were having guests tonight, and that I should help prepare dinner. I went upstairs to wash my hands, and started helping cut tomatoes, cucumber, lettuce and made a beautiful salad. I went for a quick shower and dressed in something other than my cute outfit this morning. Mom didn't tell me who was coming, so I just dressed into a skinny jean, a blue blouse, and black sneakers. I went down and set the table.
At 7.00, our guests arrived. They were the most amazing, married couple I have ever seen. They had a son too, but he would only join us in a few minutes. We all gathered in the living room. My parents and this lovely couple drank a bit of wine, while I enjoyed a lemonade. Alex was in the playroom, sleeping the night away. After about 20 minutes of getting to know the most interesting people, there was a knock on the door. I volunteered to go see who it was while the grown ups made their way to the dinner table.
I opened the door. For a moment I'm sure my heart stopped, because the person in front of me, was yours truly, Jordan Daniels. At first I thought he wanted something, but when I asked if I can help him, he said his parents gave him this address to meet with friends for dinner. It sounded like he too didn't quite think we were having dinner together, but my parents called and suddenly, before I could object to this dinner. we were all eating dinner at the same table. At my house.
