I Don't Know If I Should Stay Away [Teen Romance]

Chapter 4

It has been a week since I had decided to ignore Kyle but he hasn't been at school since my first day. I did ask about him to Sammy, but she keeps saying the same thing and it's getting me kind of mad she is always telling me to stay away. Well that isn't going to be hard Samantha because the boy hasn't showed up in a week.

I walked into my fifth period class and I saw Matt sitting in a desk looking tired and aggravated. This is it, the chance to know where Kyle is. I walked up to Matt and sat in the desk next to him. "Don't even bother to ask about Kyle sweetheart, because I won't tell you where he is." I gave him a look of disbelief and he just glanced at me then looked down. Well so much for that. I turned away and then I heard a small whisper coming from Matt's direction I turned to look back at him and he said "You really should stay away from him Alice, he is my best friend and I'm going to tell you now, he has enough problems as it is, having a girl won't help him one bit." "I'm sorry, but it's your friend that looks for me I don't look for him." He sent me a grin and said "Well the next time he looks for you, you walk away and don't look back, understand?" He was smiling but there was something in his voice that made it sound like a warning and not a joke. What is so dangerous about this boy?

I had free hour this period, and I was sitting in the library helping Sammy with a packet for her English class when I got a message on my phone.

Unknown:

Hey

Me:

Who is this?

Unknown:

C'mon Alice you should know who it is.

Me:

No I don't know who it is, so can you just tell me.

Unknown:

KR

Me:

Kyle?

Unknown:

Ding! Ding! Ding!

Me:

What? How did you get my number? That is a bit weird Kyle, Sammy doesn't even have my phone number so how did you get it.

Kyle:

Don't worry about that my dear Alice, I just wanted to know how you were doing.

Me:

No, I want to know, and I won't tell you until you tell me how you got my number.

And that was it he never answered my text he just left it like that. I looked up from my phone and glanced at Sammy, she gave me a questionable look and then looked away. Wow that was really weird, and yet I'm not as scared as I should be.

When I got home, mom was cooking on the stove and I went up to her and kissed her cheek. She turned around and looked at me with so much love in her eyes and said "How was school?" I smiled and said "It was good mom. How was work?" she looked back at the stove and in a quiet voice she said "It was good, but my patient does need a lot of help Alice, and the sad thing is that this kid is only 17, yet he thinks like a 30 year old. He had been through so much honey that he can't even live his life right. He had his childhood ripped away from him and I don't know how he is coping with that, he doesn't talk to me like he should." When she said that, her eyes watered. You see mom is a Teen Psychiatrist, and she gets really attached to her patients and sometimes it affects her more than it should.

When it was time for dinner mom called me down, and as I was walking down the stairs I heard mom talking to dad about her patient and what came out her mouth next shocked me to the core. "His name is Kyle Reed, Brandon and he looks like he is too far gone."
