Quick Summary: When Scourge is killed by Tigerstar he leaves behind his mate and his three kits in Twolegplace. Adder takes over the leadership of BloodClan making sister Nightshade jealous and angry. Wanting BloodClan to become the strong ferocious Clan it used to be she plots to overthrow her brother.

Liked/Disliked: I like reading about BloodClan because their 'camp' dynamic is so different to the other Clans. It was good to see what their training and hunting is like when they live in the confined spaces of Twolegplace and I think you wrote those parts very well. I also liked seeing the different side of Scourge. You showed that he's not just a cruel, power hungry cat. There was a lot of action in this book, almost every chapter had some big event that made sure the reader was always hooked and eager to read the next chapter. You did a good job of creating the different personalities for Star, Adder and Nightshade but the other characters to me seemed too familiar and they just blended into each other. With the exception of a couple of cats, Nightshade's supporters were all the same. Mean, angry and quick to use violence making them a bit boring to read because their actions are all identical.

Author Improvement: Some diversity between the cats with their personalities would make them more interesting and memorable.

Final Thoughts: An interesting look into what life in BloodClan is like and an alternate view of what kind of cat Scourge is.

Rating: 3.5/5
