CHAPTER THIRTEEN: snow day

throughout the night, the snow continued to fall heavier and heavier, mirroring the love between the two young adults who lay asleep, intertwined with each other, their hearts beating as one.

by morning, a thick white blanket of fresh, fluffy snow covered the landscape as far as the eye could see.

el's eyes slowly fluttered open, immediately landing on the most breathtaking sight in front of her.

laying by her side, on his front was the most gorgeous man in the world. one arm was underneath the pillow and the other was on top of it, next to his face. there were a few ebony curls falling in front of his closed eyes, his face was slightly squished against the pillow and his mouth was slightly open, his rounded rosy lips looked so inviting el just wanted to kiss them.

however, she didn't. she didn't want to disturb him, he looked so peaceful.

el wasn't sure how long she had been staring at him when mike started to stir. eleanor brought a hand up to his face and caressed his cheekbone, admiring all his freckles which danced across his skin. mike let out a soft hum as he enjoyed the feeling, still yet to open his eyes.

"morning." el whispered softly.

"morning." mike mumbled against the pillow, opening one eye. "you're staring."

"so?" el smiled, still stroking his face.

"carry on." mike opened his other eye and smirked at her, leaning into her touch.

he tried to blink away the sleepiness in his eyes and focused on the beautiful woman in front of him, their eyes met in a deep gaze.

eleanor found his eyes so entrancing, such deep pools of chocolate brown that made her heart swell. swiftly, mike leaned forward and caught her lips in a sweet, gentle kiss.

"have you looked outside yet?" mike asked, leaning back on his elbow.

eleanors eyes widened, suddenly remembering their walk back to the cottage in the snow. her head whipped around and she jumped out of bed, hastily putting on mikes black shirt which was on the floor.

el made her way to the window and threw the curtains open, revealing a winter wonderland outside. she gasped and clapped her hands excitedly before pressing her face up to the window, fogging up the glass.

mike slid out from the bed and put on some boxers, before joining her at the window, taking in the white landscape. he wrapped an arm around her tiny waist and pulled her closer to him, placing a kiss on her temple. "looks like a snow day."

it did not take long for eleanor to clean her teeth and throw on some warm clothes, while nagging at mike to do the same.

he tried to get ready as fast as he could, but as he was attempting to put his trousers on in a hurry, one leg got stuck and he fell onto the floor. eleanor poked her head round the bathroom door and couldn't help but giggle at the sight of him.

"i'm fine, thanks for asking." mike chuckled as he got up, plonking himself on the bed and slowly managing to get both legs in the trousers this time.
