𝐶𝐻𝐴𝑃𝑇𝐸𝑅 1: the whim
breakups are never easy, whether you know it's for the best or not. parting with someone you've spent your 24/7 with has a way of wrenching your heart in two, forcing you to rebuild it on your own.
their relationship was a cliché. an innocent, pure, beautiful young girl fell for the boy with the bad reputation, and he broke her.
finding out her boyfriend was cheating on her with a girl she'd known her entire life, dulled the light inside of her. eleanor felt a piece of herself break away when she heard the news. the same piece that he had marked as his and carried with him for the past two years.
she's had her suspicions, but always gave him the benefit of the doubt. but now, she'd had enough. so as soon as he turned up at her house on saturday morning, she decided to give him a piece of her mind. she was done playing the victim.

"for fuck sake eleanor just listen to me!"
"what so you can throw another one of your bullshit excuses at me? god, you're such an asshole, troy!" eleanor screamed down the obnoxiously large staircase in front of her, which she was seriously debating pushing him down.
"i told you i didn't sleep with her! what more do you want from me?" the man opposite her argued, running his hands through his messy hair.
"i can tell when you're lying. i've known you for five years, been dating you for two. i'm not as stupid as you think i am." she argued right back, feeling the anger rise within her as she glared at him with her penetrating stare.
"just tell me the truth, no more lies." she sniffled, realising he was tearing her guard down more and more.
"eleanor...baby listen to me." he said softly, almost pleading. "i love you—"
"—no you don't!" she shouted, cutting him off. his meaningless words were only adding fuel to the fire.
"you love the idea of me, of us. but you don't love me." she continued, crossing her arms and biting her lip, trying to suppress the sob which threatened to rip from her throat.
eleanor saw right through him and his bullshit, she wasn't blind. the smug look on his face and the way he tried to manipulate her into thinking she was the crazy one, was making her seriously consider the pushing him down the stairs idea. she wanted nothing to do with him and his games anymore.
"what are you talking about?" troy asked, taking a daring step towards her.
"i'm saying that you're a lying, cheating, pathetic piece of shit that needs to get the hell out of my house right now!" she yelled, pushing his chest as her eyes began to cloud over with tears.
"eleanor don't be stupid, you know you need me."
eleanor let out a dry laugh at the audacity of his words. "i have not needed you for a long time!"
"i was kidding myself, i know that now. and i'm glad i know it, because i don't want to see your face ever again!" she yelled as she threw his bag of clothes at him, shooting him a death glare in the process.
