Chapter 6

*Jake’s POV*

When I opened my eyes all I saw was a white ceiling. My head was hurting like hell and I couldn't move my arm, the damn thing was broken, great. I looked around to find myself in a hospital room. What the fuck happened!? I tried to think back, the last thing I remembered was being with Andy in the car, and then... An accident. I looked around the room again but it was empty besides me. Where the hell was Andy? The door opened and a nurse walked in.

‘’Oh, Mr. Pitts, you’re awake. How are you feeling?’’ She asked.

‘’Uhm, a bit banged up, but otherwise, fine.’’ I said.

‘’Do you know where my friend is? He was in the car with me, his name is Andy.’’

‘’Oh, yes.’’ She looked at me sympathetically before talking again.

‘’When the other car hit yours, your friend was in the impact zone, he hit his head very badly. I’m sorry, Sir, but your friend is in a coma. He’s in the ICU, you can’t see him right now.’’ She gave me a weak smile.

‘’I’m sorry, but I have other patients to check on.’’ I nodded. She turned and left. I looked at the table besides my bed. Thank fuck, my phone was there. I sat up, with my head didn’t like, and I quickly sent a text to  CC, Jinxx and Ashley saying ‘Hospital. Now.’

About half an hour later they all stormed into my room with worry painted all over their faces. ‘’Jake, what happened, are you okay?’’

‘’Guys, I’m...’’ I got cut off.

‘’What fuck, why didn’t you answer our texts?’’

‘’Gu..’’ Got cut off again because they all kept talking and blabbering on the same time.

‘’Shut up! I’m fine, a broken arm, a few bruises that’s all...’’

‘’What the hell happened?’’ Jinxx wanted to know.

‘’Some cunt jumped the lights and hit the car...’’

‘’Jake, where is Andy?’’ Ashley asked after some time. He hadn’t said anything till now.

‘’Uhm...’’ I swallowed hard. How the hell am I going to tell them? How the hell am I going to tell him? I looked at him. He didn’t look all that good. Pale, far too skinny and very tired. You should think he was the one who’d been in a car crash.

‘’What is it?’’ Ashley asked.

‘’Andy was in the impact zone, he-he’s in a coma. They won’t let me see him...’’ I said. They all went quiet and Ashley went paler, if that was even possible. He looked like he was about throw up or pass out.

‘’Are you okay, man?’’ CC asked him and laid a hand on his shoulder.

‘’Yeah, I’m-I’m fine...’’ Didn’t sound convincing. It was hesitant and unsure.

‘’You sure?’’ I asked him.

‘’Yeah.’’ He gave me a weak smile. I didn’t really believe it, though.

They pulled the chairs in the room closer the the bed so it would be easier to talk.

After I told them about what happened, we realized that they’ve been here for a couple of hours and it was getting late. I must’ve been knocked out for some hours.

‘’When are they letting you go?’’ CC asked.

‘’Sometime tomorrow or the day after. I don’t really know.’’

‘’Okay, well, call when you get out and I’ll come and get you.’'

‘’Thanks, man.’’

‘’Sure thing. Now, if you’d excuse me, I’ve got shit to fuck up elsewhere.’’ He said. The way he said it caused us, or Jinxx and I to smile. He got up from the chair.

‘’Yeah, me too.’’ Jinxx said and got up.

‘’But don’t worry, we’ll come back to annoy you tomorrow.’’ They said.

‘’Can’t wait.’’ We shared the final laugh then they left.

I looked over at Ashley, he didn’t seem to have noticed that Jinxx and CC had left. He was just sitting there, looking down at his lap, completely gone in his thoughts.

‘’Ashley?’’ He looked around, and when he saw that the others had left, he turned to look at me. His eyes looked so empty.

‘’Are you sure you’re okay?’’

‘’Yeah, I’m just... I just had a rough night, that’s all.’’

‘’Okay...’’ I decided to just leave it there, I didn’t want to push on, considering the circumstances.

‘’Listen, Ashley, I’m so sorry for what happened... I-I.’’

‘’Jake, it’s okay. It wasn’t your fault. Please don’t blame yourself, blame the cunt that jumped the lights, okay?’’

‘’Okay.’’ I smiled at him and he smiled back at me.

‘’Well, I’m gonna go as well. See you later?’’ He got up.

‘’Definitely.’’ And then he left.

My head was banging like crazy, so I laid back down and went to sleep.

I’m sorry it took so long, but I think I might have overcome the writer’s block...

But now I feel kinda bad, because it was my friend who wrote pretty much the first and most of the second paragraph, while I was trolling ‘round the internet...
