CH 22

Note: Let's take a tiny leap back, as stated previously CH 5... they started as school rivals. So this is their first phase.

Davian= Choi Cheol Min.

Kim Rok Soo couldn't exactly figure out why his desk mate was radiating such menace. It wasn't obvious on Cheol Min's face though, nope, he was wearing one of his usual big, cheerful smiles that got him away with every kind of trouble. 

Or rather, in Rok Soo's very humble opinion invited all kinds of trouble. 

He had only transferred here a few months ago, during the exams season no less. The teacher had seated him beside this boy, Choi Cheol Min, the class topper and golden boy, who despite all odds actually welcomed him rather warmly (though his energy exhausted Rok Soo till he was convinced he can sleep through a century) providing him previous notes, giving him a tour and what not.

A good guy really, but then again he had seen the brunette treat everyone with this same behaviour.

Though..

As the results started coming in, something changed between them.. 

On the surface Cheol Min treated him the same, however his jokes started getting sharper, just a slight edge if nothing else, his aura turning slightly menacing whenever he was deep in thought and little things like that. Not any straight out bullying. They kept things light (and Rok Soo thanked all skies for that because Cheol Min's influence in this place was no joke).

Rok Soo snapped out of his blank staring at his desk when his desk mate nudged him slightly.
"Sunbae..~ how did your math test go?"

The boy beside him drawled out lazily, his chin resting on his palm as he looked at the older boy, his lips were pulled up in a smile that didn't reach his eyes.

"..it was fine."

"Ahh don't be a bore, just tell me, don't get shy on meee, I'm your favourite desk mate"

Rok Soo didn't bother containing a sigh, slumping in his chair as he handed the graded sheet to Cheol Min who took it eagerly going through it with the enthusiasm of a kid receiving candy.

Rok Soo noted from the side of his eye how his junior's shoulders sagged in relief seeing the 89 circled in red.

"Sunbae, you did well, just.. don't do better than me 'kay? that will make me real upset."

He said humming playfully as he returned the test, his legs swinging in clear happiness, the menacing aura vanishing instantly. Rok Soo wasn't sure if that was jest or a threat so he just nodded, his expression ✨NoNcHaLaNt✨ (he was feeling very chalant though, why was everyone here a menace?).

'Weirdo.'

After a few moments, a teacher returned and the class monitor shushed everyone down. Through out the rest of the lessons Cheol Min occasionally fooled around a bit but despite all that buzz he kept all his notes neat and complete.

"Sunbae..."

Cheol Min called out, his voice barely above a whisper taking a mock serious tone as he leaned slightly closer to the older boy who arched a brow in question.

"Are you.. gay?"

Rok Soo almost chocked on his saliva at that one, his neck snapping to the younger boy's direction with an annoyed glare, who meanwhile just peered up at him with his hazel eyes (✨OrBs✨) filled with curiosity, his head resting on his books.

'What type of question is that--'

"No I'm not, why do you even ask that, are you.."

He trailed off both males staring at each other for a long time, before a snort left Cheol Min.. he quickly muffled his laughter.

"Pft-- Sunbae.. seriously, I have a girlfriend, besides you're not my type, no offense of course." 

'This brat--'

Rok Soo felt offended at that for some reason, he should be grateful that he isn't on that side of the fence but this brat was being.. a brat. Not that Cheol Min's sexuality changed anything he wasn't into men either! Especially not this.. this brat of a boy. 

So he just scoffed.

"Whatever, stop talking."

"Aee Sunbae is mad again, how sad~"

Ps. Just a few facts, Davian in this era-- or rather Choi Cheol Min is younger than Rok Soo here by one year, they are in the same grade. Cheol Min's parents had enrolled him one year earlier than designated when he was a child so he suffers school early~

He calls Rok Soo 'Sunbae' just to be a brat (he's not actually being respectful).
