I couldn't breathe. I felt like I was going to be sick at any moment. Where was Joey and why did they take him? I needed to get out of this room; I needed to find my brother. But how? I put my shoes on and grabbed my bag before running down the stairs and out of the front door. I ran the whole way back to my house. I knew Bev and Rob wouldn't be home so it would be the perfect opportunity to get my stuff and leave. Of course I knew they'd miss me but my brother had to come first. We'd only just found each other and I couldn't lose him.

My hands shaking, I put the key in the front door and opened it. I ran in, slamming the door behind me, threw down my things and ran upstairs. I tripped on almost every step but I didn't care. I flung open the door of my bedroom and grabbed my rucksack that was hanging on the back of the door. I threw it on my bed and opened my wardrobe. What was I going to need? I had no idea how to find him but I wasn't going to give up! I pulled out my old tracksuit bottoms, a couple of tops, a pair of leggings and a jumper. I threw them next to my bag and opened my bedside drawer. I pulled out several pairs of knickers, a few bras and a couple of pairs of socks. I stuffed all of the clothes in my bag and grabbed a pen and paper. On it I wrote:

Bev and Rob, I'm so sorry I have to do this but I'm going away. Remember when I told you about my twin, well I found him. He started in my class today and now he's gone missing. I don't know where but I will find him and then I will be back. I promise you I will stay safe. Please don't tell my social worker or the police as I'll be back soon. All my love, Jasmynn xxx

I folded up the note, grabbed my bag and went to the kitchen. I placed the note on the table and walked over to the cupboard. I grabbed a packet of biscuits, a few bags of crisps and a tin of beans before closing the cupboard. I walked over to the fridge and opened it. I spent a couple of minutes deciding what I would need before choosing some fruit and a few bottles of water. I packed them all into my rucksack before turning off the kitchen light. I walked over to the front door before taking a deep breath, opening it and stepping outside. Closing the door behind me, I whispered goodbye to my house. I knew I wouldn't be returning until I had my brother.
