"His eyes! I think when he walked in the room my heart actually stopped!" I giggled to my best friend Kaila as the new boy walked past us.

"What's his name?" Kaila asked as she watched him walking behind us towards the back of the classroom.

"Joey I think. I could just imagine it now. Jasmynn and Joey." I sighed, butterflies in my stomach. Kaila looked at me and rolled her eyes. Kaila and I talked about Joey until our English teacher Mrs. Franklin strolled in the classroom.

"SILENCE!" She yelled, bursting my ear drums. Nobody in my class could stand Mrs Franklin. She was a tall thin woman with a long face and wiry black hair. Everyday she wore a black pinstripe suit and chunky black shoes. The hour a day we spent with her was the longest hour you could possibly imagine. Especially as she hated me. "Jasmynn Laurence! If you disrupt my lesson today, you are going straight to the Head Teacher's office. Do you understand me?" She bellowed, walking towards my desk, her shoes clunking with every step.

"But I haven't done anything!" I whined. Why did she always have to make a fool of me?

"Right that's it! Head teacher's office; Now!" She yelled in my face. I grabbed my bag, stood up and stormed out of the classroom. I walked to the Head teacher's office, took a deep breath and knocked on the door.

"Come in," My Head Teacher Mr Matthews called from behind the door. I walked in and just stood there, my head down, waiting for him to speak. The silence was unbearable. Why wasn't he saying anything? I looked up, he was staring at me with a stern look on his face. "What have you done this time Miss Laurence?" Mr Matthews asked as he signaled for me to sit down. Reluctantly, I walked over to the chair opposite his desk and sat down. He didn't take his eyes off of me the whole time.

"I swear I didn't do anything. I just sat there. Then she yelled at me so I told her I hadn't done anything wrong so she sent me here. You know she doesn't like me!" I said angrily. I realised my outburst had shocked him so I slumped back in my chair and put my head down. It seemed like hours had passed before his voice broke the silence.

"Look Jasmynn, I know you're not fond of Mrs Franklin but this is getting ridiculous now. You're sent her almost every time you have English but it's never your fault. If you just tried a bit harder and had less attitude, maybe you wouldn't be in this situation." He droned on. I started to think about Joey and how much I actually liked him. I felt as if it was just the two of us who existed in the world. I completely forgot about Mrs Franklin and Mr Matthews. "Jasmynn, you can go now otherwise you'll be late to your next lesson." Mr Matthews said, interrupting my day dream. Had it really been an hour already? I gathered my belongings and stood up before leaving the room. As I stepped out of the door, there he was. Joey.

"Hi," He said, looking into my eyes.
