A WEEK LATER...

"I can't believe we're graduating!" Liam told June who was sitting next to him thanks to the last name alphabetical order.

It was a sunny day, and Liam, June, and Sam with the rest of their classmates were all sitting in chairs that were on a big stage. The stage was white and so were the chairs the students, and audience were sitting in.

With the difference that there was grass all around the audience's rows of chairs since they were holding the ceremony at a beautiful park. A big lake that was reflecting the baby blue sky with a few white clouds which was seen a little distance behind the stage, provided a great view for the audience that wanted to capture every second with pictures or videos on their iPhones.

Not all the students were on stage yet, since there was still a few seats empty but overall most of the students were sitting in their assigned seats and were all wearing baby blue robes that was the school's color, along with those square hat things.

"Yup! Everything went by so fast in a blink of an eye from the moment we stepped through the entrance of Wamego High School as freshmen." June glanced over at Liam who just nodded in agreement.

"You know, sometimes I feel like I should be more excited about becoming an adult than I really feel. Because as a kid we were all like, 'When I get big...' or 'You just wait when I turn eighteen, I'm gonna...' and now that it's here...well... I don't really have any plans or even know what I truly want to do with my life." This time June nodded in agreement never meeting his baby blue eyes because she knew if she did, she would not think clearly. Liam was like Medusa to June. If she looked into his eyes, she would petrify or say/do something stupid.

"Yeah, I think everyone has that issue Liam. Go ask a freshmen what they plan to do after high school and you get a 'Uhh...I don't know.' So it's common to not really know what you plan on doing. But at least have a slight idea where you wanna go and someway or another get there. Besides you gotta' admit there are a few things we won't be missing from high school-" June started saying when she got interrupted by Liam.

"Or a few people we won't be missing from high school." Liam muttered. When he said this June felt sad with the thought of him referring to June.

You're just his charity case! Nikki's voice haunted her.

"Why's that?" June asked trying to not sound too interested in his answer.

"Well, there's definitely a lot of drama I wish I would've avoided if I had just stayed away from some people in high school." Liam replied coyly.

"Ah. Like what kind of people?" June persisted still trying to not sound super interested.

"Well like...like some people- but not you! I like you June, don't get me wrong." June's heart skipped a beat thinking of that small phrase he had said before adding 'don't get me wrong' which brought it back to the friend zone level.

One can only dream. June thought as once again she felt Liam played with her feelings and friend zoned her again towards the end of what sounded like a breakthrough.

"Thanks...I guess." June replied feeling a little defeated.

"Hello? Hello? Check, 1,2,3..." The Principal tapped on the microphone as they were doing the last minute sound checks.
