Sophia's POV:

As I walked lonely to my 1st period, Jake waved at me, and ran up to me.

"Hey. How's it going?"

I sighed.

"She sat by Keisha in homeroom." I whispered.

Jake smiled.

"I hope the venom doesn't get to her! Hanging out with Keisha is like getting a dog; at first, it's the coolest thing! Then, it's horrible; kind of like a chore! You can't stop hanging out with Keisha like you can't get rid of the dog; it's risky and has a price." he said.

I sighed.

We walked to our classroom in silence.

As soon as I sat down, Jake asked me, "Mind if I sit here?"

I smiled.

"Sure."

As he sat down, I turned around to Keisha, who was eagerly chatting with Halle.

Wow. What a liar.

The teacher wasn't here yet.

Mrs. Rogers always came in late, to the fact that she took 35 minutes to take a potty break.

"Little Miss Perfect!" I heard a voice exclaim behind me.

I turned around to Keisha.

"Finally! God! You're slower than a turtle! Well, um, Sophia, we're at school, not at a runway! Do you mind coming to school in a less fancier outfit? Like maybe jeans? Talk about rich!"

I rolled my eyes at her.

Keisha bumped Halle with her elbow.

Halle looked down, obviously embarrassed.

Keisha whispered something in Halle's ear, making her straighten her posture, and smile a little. "Yeah, Sophia. Coming to school in a dress won't change your status! You'll never stop being a loner! Gosh! Talk about stupid!" Halle said, no expression being shown on her face.

I could feel the tears poking at my eyes. I turned around, and took out my book and began reading. It wasn't what Keisha said that hurt me; it was what Halle said. I was there for her when she needed a friend...I was there when-

"Oh God! She's reading now!" Keisha exclaimed dramatically.

"Will you shut up, Keisha? I'm glad she's reading! If you read a book, you'd only fry your brain trying!" Jake defended me. I blushed. Keisha snarled, and Mrs. Rogers came in, a trail of toilet paper behind her.

I sighed. What could be worse than being lonely during lunch?

I saw Jake wave, and I smiled, until I saw the huge group of guys trailing behind him. I gulped, and Jake began walking over to me. The guys looked at him as if he were going nuts.

"Hey Sophie...." he murmurs. I smile. "Hey Jake. Um, am I...um....sitting where you guys were planning on sitting?" He shakes his head. "Of course not. Do you mind if we sit here? It's because it's a little warm outside. We'll leave as soon as we're all done eating..." he says. I nod. "Yeah, it's alright..." And that's when I notice their looks.

I notice Taylor Nelson, Nathaniel Jefferson, David Montoya, and 3 others.

They all sit down, and begin to talk about football, motorcycles, soccer, and the cheerleaders.

I finish up, and give Jake a last smile before getting up.

I walk out the cafeteria, and then notice Halle hanging out with Keisha.
