Chapter 5

Naruto sighed for the umpteenth time as he waited for this day, the kyuubi festival, to pass. The festival just started and it's gonna be a really long time before it ends. I can't believe they forgot! Like the f*? I just mentioned it and they can't even figure it out that today is his birthday! I bet I have to make a big neon sign and set off a few fireworks for them to even notice Naruto's presence! Kurama fumed to herself. How dare they forget! Screw them! And they call themselves Naruto's friends. Friends my ass! I wouldn't want friends like that! Kurama huffed in annoyance.
It's okay nee-chan. I'm use to it... Naruto thought to her which made the fox freeze. How did he know what I'm thinking about?
You were saying it out loud.
Oh... I hate them so much! Kurama said as she returned to her rant.

"I feel like I forgot something." Sasuke said to Neji as they watch the rest rush around to look at everything. "Neji nii-San! Look! T-this is cute right?" Hinata said, stuttering a little. Her stuttering had decreased dramatically when Naruto give her more confidence without even knowing it. "Yes it is Hinata-sama."
"G-great!"
"Hinata-sama you don't look like one who needs a plushie." Neji commented, causing Hinata's face to flush deeply. "I-I, it's not for me." She said quietly.
"Oh?"
"It's for N-Naruto-kun."
"Why would you suddenly buy a present for him? Did you realise he isn't smart enough to get the hint that you like him?" Sasuke teased and Hinata yelped in alarm.
"H-how d-did y-you k-know?" Her stuttering coming back full blown, showing how embarrassed she is.
"Don't be embarrass Hinata-sama." Neji said and let Sasuke continue.
"Besides, we all know you love Naruto." Sasuke said smirking, making Hinata hide her face.
"Why are you buying him a present suddenly though, Hinata-sama?" Neji asked curiously and the Hyuuga princess finally plucked up enough courage to look up again. "It's his birthday." She whispered and the two prodigy looked like they have been punched in the gut. Sh*t we forgot all about it. Naruto... We're such bad friends.
"You know what Hinata-sama? We should give Naruto a surprise birthday party." Neji suggested.
"That's a brilliant idea, Neji nii-San. Although, we don't have time to finish preparations by midnight." Hinata said, her stuttering suddenly all gone. How can it come back full on and then completely disappear suddenly, they have no idea.
"We can always prep tonight and then we can celebrate his birthday tomorrow for the whole day." Sasuke said and the two hyuuga nodded their agreements before going around to gather their comrades to start planning quickly and to start gathering things for the party.

"Naruto-kun, you should get some sleep. I'll make sure no one attacks you." Kurama said as she appeared in her human form because Naruto wasn't willing to sleep 'cause of the stress when trying to stay alert. Naruto looked at her warily, his eye bags visible. Kurama pushed him gently onto his back and pulled the blanket to his chin, tucking him into bed. "Goodnight Naruto." Kurama whispered gently and kissed his forehead tenderly, like a mother, giving Naruto the love he has never received. When she pulled back she saw that Naruto had already fallen asleep.
After two hours of keeping guard, Kurama herself was getting tired. She was about to go back to Naruto when she felt a chakra signature approaching. Someone knocked on the door and it cracked open slightly. "Naruto-kun?" A timid voice called out quietly.
"He's asleep." Kurama said and then invited the person in after recognising who it was. Hinata hyuuga. "Kyuubi-sama, I-I wanted to tell you that tomorrow we planned a special surprise for Naruto-kun. Please tell him to come to the Uchiha compound." Hinata said politely, causing Kurama to chuckle, making Hinata jump slightly in alarm.
"You're the child that loves Naruto, aren't you?"
"I-I, yes. P-please don't tell him! He might not like me back!" Hinata said.
"Why not?"
"He likes Sakura-San. I have nothing that he can like about."
"Are you kidding me?! Naruto doesn't like Haruno! You have everything he can like about. Show him you care. Show him before it's too late." Kurama said as she suddenly disappeared, already exceeding her time allowed to spend out as a human.
I will. I have to show him! Hinata thought as determination flowed through her. Sadly she doesn't know that it's gonna be too late.
