Chapter 6

Naruto was woken up by someone screaming at him to wake up and shaking him violently. "Wake up!!!" Naruto jumped up in shock and thrashed trying to keep them away as his blurry vision only made out the outline of the person. "Calm down!!" The person, clearly a boy, exclaimed as he held onto Naruto's thrashing limbs. When Naruto was finally calm enough, he released him and Naruto realised who it was. Kiba.
"Shit, Kiba I'm so sorry." Naruto apologised and Kiba grinned before waving it off.
"Come on let's go! Ichiraku Ramen right?" Kiba said as he chucked clothes into Naruto's face. Naruto looked at the clothes, cringing at the colour. Kiba's grin widened as he noticed the cringe. His choice of gift is right then. Naruto changed and was dragged out immediately by the Inuzuka. Naruto was dragged all the way to ichiraku and he ordered only one bowl of ramen which surprised everyone at the stall. "What's wrong Naruto-kun?" Ayame asked worriedly.
"It's nothing! I, uh, just got out of the hospital. Don't really have my appetite back yet." Naruto said as cheerfully as he can muster. Ayame and Teuchi eyed him for a bit before they smiled, pleased with his explanation. They didn't want their favourite little blond to be unhappy or anything.
"Come on Naruto! Let's go spar!"
"What? What about your team?!" Naruto asked, worried about what others are thinking about him. Kiba grinned at Naruto but he was having a turmoil with his thoughts. What is wrong with Naruto? He would never have reacted this way before. He would have jumped at the chance just to prove he is better than us and he'll announce that he is going to be the next hokage. He would never care whether our teams were waiting. Why wouldn't you tell us anything, Naruto?
"Ma, don't worry about them! Rookie 9's senseis told us to take a break." Kiba said, not a lie but not the truth either. They weren't told to take a break, they had demanded for today's break to celebrate Naruto's birthday and Kiba, being as energetic as Naruto was given the task of keeping the smaller blond busy until they were ready. Naruto wasn't given the chance to respond as he was dragged off to the training ground for their sparring match.
They had sparred for almost an hour, at first going easy with taijutsu then moving to ninjutsu. Kiba was the one using jutsus while Naruto flat out refused to use any as he was afraid that he would hurt Kiba. What is going on? Naruto... Why are you suddenly so scared? Kurama thought as she watched Naruto sparring with Kiba. The dog boy had also seem to notice Naruto's weird behaviour.
When Naruto barely dodged Kiba's gaatsuga, Kiba immediately stopped and went to tend to Naruto. "Come on, you should rest. You just got out of the hospital." Kiba said as he helped the struggling boy towards the shade of a tree. Naruto grunted as he held onto his injured side tenderly while Kurama healed him. Naruto was feeling oddly tired as the fox healed him. "Um, Kiba?"
"Yeah?"
"Do you mind if I-"
"No I don't. Come I'll shift so you'll be comfortable." Kiba said as he moved so Naruto could lean on him. Naruto whispered his thanks as he leaned on Kiba. "Why are you being so nice to me?" Naruto asked sleepily. That question took Kiba momentarily by surprise. "... You're my friend, Naruto."
"But demons don't have friends." Naruto mumbled, Kiba couldn't tell if he was asleep or not but that response made Kiba cringe. "You're not a demon Naruto."
"I am. I killed so many people. I deserve the treatment the villagers give me." Naruto mumbled again which confuse Kiba.
"What treatment? Naruto? Oi? Dammit he is asleep."

When Naruto woke up, Kiba had chosen to keep his mouth shut and he will report what he has heard to the rest and they will investigate and they will help Naruto together. "Let's go! I have something to show you." Kiba said happily as he tugged on Naruto's hand. I can't let them worry anymore.
"That demon brainwashed the Inuzuka!"
"We have to kill it immediately!"
"That demon fo-"
"Shhh! We can't say it out in public!"
Maybe it's the best if I am gone. I'm nothing but a burden. They're all right. I'm a demon. I should be gone.
Naruto was led towards the Uchiha complex. The guards glared at him but they reluctantly let him through when the one of the clan heir, Sasuke, showed up and ordered them to step aside. Then Sasuke and Kiba had both left Naruto, disappearing off to somewhere. Naruto was utterly confused as he followed orange coloured post its towards where it wants him to go. He collected them as he went just in case he arrived at the same one. He reached one that was taped on a door, it said: open me. Naruto stared at it warily, there was no lights whatsoever from the room. Naruto decided to open it. If it was an ambush, great. They will get rid of the village's torment.
When the door slide open, lights flicked on immediately and there was a chorus of "happy birthday!" Naruto's eyes widened in complete shock and surprise. "... Did I walk in on someone else's birthday?" Naruto asked as it technically isn't his birthday anymore. "No baka! It's your birthday silly." Tsunade said as she went over and hugged him.
"My birthday was yesterday?" Naruto said nervously, hoping it wouldn't make them angry. His comment made a few flinch at their neglect of their comrade. "Well, yesterday, you didn't celebrate! So we decided to throw you a birthday party!" Kiba yelled. I guess I should enjoy it. They put in so much effort. I shouldn't waste their effort.
Naruto grinned and said thank you and the party started. They gave him his gift and cut the cake, ate, socialised before they had to leave reluctantly but they were all happy.
Why can't I shake off this bad feeling? You better be careful kit.
