Loriana POV
"So, good news!" Hannah said, popping up next to me while I'm at my locker.
"What now?" I asked then let out a sigh. She's been excited over little shit all day.
"I was invited to a kickback that's happening tomorrow night. It's about to be LIT!" She squealed with excitement.
I groaned and shut my locker. Honestly, deep down inside, I wanted Hannah to forget about that conversation. I don't think I care if I'm boring or whatever. I'm just not comfortable with doing what other teens do. I don't see a problem with that.
"Tomorrow is a school night. It's only Wednesday, why not wait and have it on a Friday. Who's parents is about to let them have people over late at night like that?" I asked. She gave me a look which made me nervous.
"I got invited my a guy from SSH but I don't know the persons who's hosting it. All I know is that there will be drinks and weed but you know we don't smoke." She said.
I shook my head and started walking down the hall towards the schools front doors. Hannah took the liberty of joining me. I got outside and I took a seat on a bench close by. It started to get chilly so I wrapped my knit cardigan tighter around me to make me warmer.
"So make sure you tell your parents that you're sleeping over my house tomorrow and from school you'll come to my house." She said.
"I don't know Hannah. I can't picture myself hanging around a whole bunch of people while they smoke and drink seeing as I will partake in neither." I said. It doesn't make complete sense for me to go. "I would rather sit at home and read a book." I mumbled.
"You have to go! It's not even a party. Just some time to relax. Your parents aren't going to know so you'll be free for the night." She said.
"Sounds all peachy or whatever but I think that we're forgetting that I'm always being watched." I said. I pointed to the black Cadillac that was parked in the parking lot.
"Ugh." She groaned.
"Yeah, not only by my dads people but Randy's." I said then folded my arms across my chest.
"I don't know why they think that a 17 year old, grown girl, has to have little guards following her. That's so extra." All of which she said is true.
"My family is just extra. I swear it's in their blood." I complained.
Our conversation was interrupted by a car honking their horn obnoxiously. I already know who is it.
"Lori, get your small ass in this car before I leave you and you walk home." Uncle Ty yelled from inside his car.
I rolled my eyes as I stood up. He is always so damn embarrassing. I gave Hannah a hug and told her to call me before I got into the car.
"Must you embarrass me all the time?" I complained as he sped down the street, swerving between cars.
"I'm grown. It's my job to embarrass you. Let them lil niggas know that know my crazy ass." He said. At least he KNOWS he's crazy.
I'm totally confused right now cause we're driving the opposite way from my house. We're driving towards the hood area which I don't really go around so it's foreign to me.
"Where are we going Uncle Ty?" I asked. I looked out the window as my surroundings changed drastically.
"I need to handle something real quick." He mumbled. He stopped at a red light and started to type something in his phone.
"Does this have to do with drugs or whatever?" I asked.
I know about the whole drug cartel/organization. My parents told me about all that a while ago but they keep it out of my life as much as possible. I'm still around my family that's in the business but they just don't bring it around me.
