Michael.
.
"I am trying my hardest!"
.
"Don't be ridiculous. Clearly you aren't, (Y/N)." My potions teacher snapped. She had kept me behind, again, to inform me that I was slipping behind. Just like the rest. They didn't understand. I really was trying my absolute best, I just couldn't live up to my elder brothers legacy. Nobody could.
.
She mistakingly took my silence as a request to continue.
"If you don't sort yourself out soon, I will be taking points from your house. Perhaps that will inspire you a little more."
.
My stomach dropped. Gryffindor lose points due to my stupidity? That couldn't happen. They'd hate me, they'd absolutely hate me.
My eyes fogged up with warm tears and I turned to leave before she could see how much she was getting to me.
Maybe it was an empty threat?
. . . Maybe she was deadly serious.
.
I ran all the way into the nearest empty room, desperately not wanting anyone to see me cry. I slumped in the corner of the room, the most hidden part, and sulked. What was I going to do? How could I magically become my brother?
.
The sound of laughter and bellowing made me freeze up.
Please don't come in here, please don't come in here-
.
A door crashes and I gulp. Someone is in here. It doesn't take long until the stranger reveals himself, thankfully there is only one, but when I look closer, I'd rather have a million other people in here. Michael Clifford.
.
My arch enemy, of course! That's perfect. Send the evil guy from Slytherin in here, that's awesome.
Just so awesome.
He notices me and my heart falters as he squints to get a closer look.
.
"(Y/N)?" He smirked. "What are you doing here? Couldn't get enough of me earlier?" His smirk grew as he referenced our most recent fight this morning. He opens his mouth to tease me further but stops the minute he comes close enough to see me properly in the dim light.
". . . (Y/N)?" He mumbled, the smirk vanishing instantaneously.
.
He crouches before me and I wipe my eyes quickly.
"What's wrong?" He asked in a soft tone.
.
"Nothing." I mumbled, there was no way in hell that I would ever share anything with him. He'd only use it against me.
.
He sighed and placed a hand on my upper arm.
"It doesn't seem like nothing to me."
I remained silent and he nudged me lightly. "I mean, normally you would have attempted to kill me at least once by now."
.
"Trust me, I am. Just in my head."
I say, easing up a little and he lets out a deep chuckle. I laugh along sadly.
"I'm just not cut out for this, Michael." I shrug and he gives me a concerned look. "I am a shitty witch."
.
"Hey." He spoke sternly. "That is not true. I see when you do your spells, I watch you in class, you're amazing!"
He encouraged and my stomach warmed.
.
"You watch me?" I blurt, causing his delicate cheeks to blush furiously.
.
"Well . . . Yeah." He mumbles, his cheeks glowing even darker.
"Put it this way, I definitely don't hate you."
.
I smile as everything inside of me wakes up. "Good. Because I definitely don't hate you either." I admit, sheepishly what I had been yet to even admit to myself. He grinned before fumbling about, getting more comfortable.
.
He visibly swallowed hard and looked at me nervously.
"Can I . . . Can I k-kiss you?" He stuttered more nervous that I'd ever seen him.
.
I laughed, slightly shocked and dizzy with happiness. He rolled his eyes, regaining his confidence and leant in to kiss my anyways, gently pressing his warm lips to mine before cupping my face in his hands and pressing harder.
Hate couldn't be more opposite to how I felt about Michael Clifford after that.
.
Ashton.
.
"Where are you taking me?" I laughed as my beautiful boyfriend turned to shush me yet again.
We were supposed to be asleep right now, nobody was supposed to be up.
.
He led me by the hand all the way to the woods and I tensed up instantly.
I was my no means a wuss, however these woods would terrify even the bravest of individuals. Ashton noticed and stopped, checking behind me to make sure nobody was on our trail.
.
He released my hand and used both of his to wrap around my waist instead.
"Listen, baby." He tucked a loose strand of hair behind my ear.
"We need to go through here to get to where I'm taking you. Did you bring your wand like I asked?"
.
I pulled my wand from my pocket and he nodded. "Good girl." He grinned, giving me a chaste kiss. "I got you okay? We're gonna run, ready?"
.
Nodding, I let him take my hand again as we raced through the dark forest, both our hearts beating like crazy.
An irrational mix of fear and adrenaline. We finally arrived and I realised he'd taken me to where Buckbeak was held.
.
I shot Ashton a confused look, but he ignored it and went to give the mysterious creature a dead ferret.
He gobbled it up happily and let Ashton and I untie him.
.
Ashton instructed me to get on after him, and so I did as I was told.
When I had mantled Buckbeak, I gripped my arms tightly around Ash and he turned to give me a wicked grin before our adventure began.
.
He flew us across the lake, the clear starry night making everything just that extra bit more wonderful.
I was having the most fun I think I had just about ever had, when Ashton pulled us over for a break.
.
He pulled open the picnic basket he had clearly left here earlier, and we tucked in hungrily beside our new friend. We lay back and watched the stars a little longer as Ashton's hand slowly slipped into mine.
"I love you, (Y/N)." He mumbled into the night sky.
.
"I love you more, Ash. Thank you so much for this, it's truly amazing."
I turned to face him but he was so wrapped up in the stars. It made me smile unexpectedly.
.
He pulled me closer and kissed my forehead. "I'm going to marry you someday, you know." He whispered, and I turned to look up at him yet again. "Only six more months and we're done with school. I don't want that to be the end of us. I want to spend the rest of my life with you, that's all I'm saying." He squeezed my body and we snuggled into each other, watching the beautiful sky and never wanting this night to end.
