Luke.
.
"Y/F/N? Are you here?" I half yelled into the empty kitchen. When nobody replied, I let out a long and heavy sigh, casually throwing the bag of used clothes onto her large kitchen worktop, before turning around to leave.
.
"Oh, it's only you." Stopped me from moving. Breathing too.
No. Freaking. Way.
Was he finally back? How long for? Where had he been?
.
I turned back around, slowly and cautiously. (Y/F/N) would have told me he'd come back. Surely.
"Luke?" I whispered in disbelief. Quickly shaking it off and shooting him a laid back grin. "Decided to come back, huh?"
.
He nodded, fixing his hair a little.
"Yeah. Only until it's legal for me to leave this town, though. Then I'm gone." He smiled, pride twinkling behind his blue eyes.
.
My heart sank at his statement. Did he really mean that? He'd come back to visit, right? I'd missed seeing him around this time, and it had only been two measly months.
.
"So why are you here?" He asked, pulling me out of my own little world and back into reality. He eyed the old shopping bag with interest.
.
I fiddled with the inside of my sleeve. Why was I so nervous? I'd know the guy for pretty much my entire life . . . And had managed to uphold a giant, obsessive crush on him for at least half of that time.
.
"I was just dropping some clothes back for (Y/F/N)." I nodded towards the bag. "Don't worry, I was just leaving." I mumbled, beginning to turn.
.
"Wait!" He called, making my head snap back round instantly.
"I mean, erm." He cleared his throat loudly. "(Y/F/N) should be back soon, you can wait with me, I'm only watching a film." He looked over towards their living room door.
.
I followed his gaze before reminding myself to breathe. I'd seen hundreds of films with him. I'd been on my own with him plenty of times. This would be fine.
.
"Okay. Thank you." I nodded, following him in and sitting on the opposite end of the couch to him.
.
~ Quite some time later ~
.
"More dip?" He asked, a hint of teasing behind his deep voice.
.
I looked up to see him gazing at me with a strange delight. "What?" I laughed, nervously checking my shirt to see if I had spilt anything.
.
"It's just, you sort of have some dip. Here." He gestured to below his lip as I felt my cheeks burn. I hated doing anything that could remind him that I was two years younger. That I was his little sisters best friend.
.
I attempted to wipe it off, flimsily. Too embarrassed to try properly. He laughed, shaking his head and scooting closer. His cologne drifted into my nostrils. It was different from before. Good different though, it smelt older. More mature.
.
My heart pounded against my rib cage as he lifted his abnormally large thumb to my face, softly stroking just below my lip. He was inches away. If it were cold, you'd be able to see our breathing mix into one large cloud.
.
I stared up at him through my lashes, watching his beautiful features. Admiring everything about them.
.
He grinned a little to himself. "It's rude to stare, (Y/N). " He teased, sending an awkward blush to my cheeks yet again.
.
"Sorry." I mumbled, watching as his eyes trailed down to my lips. Feeling as his thumb rested on my lower one. He ran it across my lips, shivers and tingles crashing through me as a result.
.
Slowly, he moved his hand into my hair, cupping the side of my head before leaning in to press our lips together softly. The butterflies swarmed in my stomach as I kissed him back harder, blocking out any guilty thoughts of (Y/F/N).
.
He eventually pulled away, breathless and flustered, probably mirroring my own expression. "I've been wanting to do that for quite some time." He breathed, I got over the disbelief and, only now realised how hot I was feeling.
.
"(Y/F/N) wasn't really coming back soon, was she?" I asked happily.
.
He smiled guiltily at being caught out.
"Not at all." He whispered, kissing me again.
.
Ashton.
.
"I'm not so sure, Ash . . ." I mumbled, suddenly having second thoughts about what had exited me so much only an hour before.
.
He sighed, taking my hands in his as I remained seated on his bed. I stared into his Hazel eyes, he was nervous too, it was obvious.
"I know baby, but if not now then when? The longer we leave it, the madder she will be."
.
I thought about it. He was right, but he was always right.
I never meant for this to happen.
I never meant to fall in love with my best friends brother, I never even meant to kiss him, but here we are. Stuck up to our necks in an extremely sticky mess.
.
"Come on, it won't be so awful. Think about it, you won't have to lie anymore, and no more sneaking around, doesn't it sound great?" He grinned, cupping my cheeks with his hands and gently pressing a kiss to my forehead.
"I don't want to hide this anymore,
(Y/N). I love you, she loves you. It's going to be okay."
.
I was about to reply before Ashton's door swung open.
"Ash, you haven't seen my-" She trailed off when she saw my panicked face.
"(Y/N)?" She breathed, suddenly taking in how close Ashton and I were.
.
Ashton squeezed my hand behind his back. This was it.
.
"I didn't know you were here . . ." She quizzed, taking a teeny step further into his room and closing the door behind her. "What are you doing in here?" She asked, taking a moment to eye up her brother.
.
I opened my mouth to respond but Ashton had already jumped in. He probably thought I'd chicken out.
"Actually, (Y/F/N) , I'm glad you're here. We sort of have something to talk to you about."
.
She narrowed her eyes at the two of us, suspicious. Ashton turned to me and intertwined our hands, he gave me a nervous smile, but I just stared at my best friend. She looked shocked, very very shocked, but then hurt. And I never wanted to be the reason she was hurting.
.
"No." She whispered, a hand flying up to cover her gaping mouth. "Are you pranking me? Is this one of your dumb jokes, Ash? Because it isn't funny." She glared at me, outraged that I had been keeping something from her. Beyond annoyed that it was with her older brother.
.
Neither of us replied, Ashton only squeezed my hand harder. (Y/N) and I had rarely fought in our many years of friendship, but when we did it broke my heart.
.
"Since when?" She demanded.
.
I swallowed the lump in my throat before croaking out an answer.
"Since the Christmas party." I informed her.
.
"Six months?" She exploded. "You've been messing around together for six months and nobody told me?!" She almost screamed.
.
"Hey!" Ashton shouted back. "We aren't messing around. I'm in love with her, (Y/F/N). She means everything to me." He promised and when she turned to me, I nodded in agreement. Tense with anticipation for her reaction.
.
". . . Love?" She asked quietly. We watched as she thought for a long while, until she took a deep, slow breath and shrugged. "I guess the two of you have been a hell of a lot nicer to me since this started." She concluded.
.
"So, you aren't mad?" I blurted.
.
"No." She gave me a grin. "Not mad."
I lept from the bed, and ran to engulf her  in my arms. She laughed and hugged me back. "But I don't want to see too much okay? And you better not ditch me for him." She warned and I laughed.
.
"I promise." I whisper into her ear, overjoyed with delight and relief.
