sitting on the bench, a bench i know too well, i waited for the midnight train. i hated the subway, it's dirtiness and the screeching sound of the trains when they scratched the tracks.

in my blunt boredom, i listened to music to calm myself and forget my life for awhile.

i was the only one down here, waiting for the latest train nobody took but me. i plugged in my earphones and put the buds in my ears. adjusting my beanie, i presses play, humming to sam smith.

"hold me tight within your clutch..." i turned around to see a man. he was moving his lips to the low music that was coming out my earphones.

i closely watched him secretly, eyeing his lip movement to eventually make out his black lip ring.

i think he felt my stare, because his head tilted to eye me. i blushed, looking down. i was slightly afraid of the man, even though he seemed harmless.

i had to protect myself, so i couldn't let my guard down. especially, the obvious age gap between us.

i felt his stare on my face. "mind looking elsewhere?" I felt the words slip out in annoyance.

his stare slowly vanished. i still felt his reluctance, but why? why be so hesitant to look away from my face?
