universal
jack was anticipating on helping lulu that afternoon, constantly looking at the clock and clicking his pen as the hours seemed to move slow. jack was so deep in thought, he hadn't realized ms. bonita was calling for him. "jack!"
he jumped in his seat, hurriedly getting up and walking to ms. bonita's office. "didn't you hear me calling you?" her expression was irritated, her authoritative position leaking out in her words.
"no, ms.bonita, i was really focused on my work." he lied smoothly. ms. bonita just rolled her eyes, turning to mess with the papers on her glass desk. "why don't you to be a good secretary and fetch me some black coffee, might reward you when you come back."
jack rolled his eyes, leaving her office to get her dumb coffee.

lulu waited outside the school, fiddling with her fingers as she waited for jack to arrive. she sort of questioned if he was really going to help her, i mean why would he want to? she's not his responsibility. but the sincerity in his voice before made her have her hopes up.
soon, she heard footsteps and looked to see jack. he was dressed differently from his suits and button-ups, instead he sported a plain white tee with a red flannel, black jeans and vans.
"wow, i didn't know you owned normal people clothes." she joked, earning an eye roll from him. he stood in front of her, "so you ready?" she stood up as well, their faces inches from each other. jack peers into her eyes, unknowingly showing he was phased by the closeness whilst lulu kept hers hidden.
"yep. uh... you have something red on your neck." lulu pointed out, her eyebrows furrowing. jack's eyes widen, suddenly backing away before she can look any closer. he wipes it off, "it's nothing. l-let's get this over with ok?"
lulu only nodded, trailing behind him.

"lulu is a splendid student," her teacher said. "but she's always late to class, it's ruining her record." as the teacher talked, lulu was mainly peering up at jack. the whole thing that happened just minutes ago was still on her mind while jack seemed to disregard it. somehow, it worried her.
"i apologize, it's the morning traffic, you see. and since i don't have transportation to get her here on time, she has to take the subway." jack's lies were smooth and reasonable, it has the teacher convinced.
"well, we can set out an arrangement. how about a personal bus to pick her up?" once the words came out, lulu snapped her gaze. "hell no, i'm not riding no short bus like i'm retarded."
the teacher only sighed, use to lulu's outbursts, unlike jack who was shocked. "ms. waters, i ensure you this is nothing like that, it's just a reliable way to get you here on time."
lulu was infuriated.
"i rather dropout than ride the short bus. you want me in school? deal with the fact i'm late. i don't need your help, nor do i need yours." she looked directly at jack when she said the last part. she got up, knocking her chair over and leaving the classroom.
"i'm sorry, thanks." jack says quickly, running after lulu. lulu was out the door and already down the street. "lulu! shit, slow down!"
lulu stopped, turning around to look at jack angrily.
"w-what's wrong? i mean, why are you angry, he was only trying to help." lulu began to laugh bitterly. "trying to help me?! no, he was trying to insult me and i have to say it worked. that old son of a bitch doesn't give a damn about me."
jack stood there, bewildered. "what's wrong with you? why do you think everyone has something against you?" jack was majorly confused.
lulu's mouth gaped open. "oh, fuck you jack. fuck you! 'what's wrong with me'? that's fucking hilarious. what the fuck's wrong with you?!" jack scoffed, "what are you talking about?"
"the lipstick stain? the time you looked like you just had sex? hey, it's not my business but i'm worried. is someone hurting you?" jack froze, looking at lulu. he never thought about in that way, but he was being hurt. ms. bonita was using him for her needs, and in return gave him short-lived pleasure, yet salty tears of pain and self-hatred later on.
just even today, when he came back with her coffee she didn't think twice about taking his purity. no even having enough consideration to ask if he was a virgin, just selfishly using him up slowly to soon throw him away.
but somehow, he got defensive. "you're right, lulu, it's none of your business. i'm a grown man, anything about me is none of your concern. you're just a kid."
lulu felt a stab of pain rip into her heart, his last words irking her eyes to suddenly flood. when jack's rage settled, he noticed what he had done and felt guilty in an instant.
"lulu, i--" he tried to touch her, but she backed up. "no. you're right, i'm just a kid and you're an adult and kids stay out of adults' business, right?" jack knew he screwed up, "i-- i didn't mean it."
"then why did it come out your mouth?!?!" lulu exclaimed. she always hated being caught between anger and sadness, it made her voice raise and the tears overflow. her breathing erratic and her skin red and hot. "lulu, please... j-just lemme explain."
she shook her head, wiping the wetness off her cheeks. "don't need an explanation when you told me how you feel. and you know what, jack?"
jack eyes widen in useless hope. she smiled sweetly, unlike the bitter words that came out of her mouth right after. "you are something else." jack's hopes die as she turns to walk away.
