Prologue

It was a warm afternoon. The clear blue sky was surrounded by the fluffy white clouds; behind it, the sun beamed out its rays against the meadow, revealing its beauty. The foreground was covered in greens and colourful variants of wild flowers. It seemed abandoned and pristine but towards the centre of the meadow there was a strange tree that was planted. Ordinary trees have green leaves but unlike them this tree had white leaves. Underneath the tree there was a young boy playing near the tree trunk. His name was Kang Hee Gun.

Gary's POV:

I was 9 and she was 6. It was a summer's day when I first met her on the meadow; it was once my secret place...

My knees were stuck to the ground as I was poking the bugs with my wooden stick. Multiple bugs were crawling up the tree trunk. This place is so peaceful, I found this meadow by accident but I didn't regret it, I wonder why not many people go to this place it's beautiful. I looked up to see the light shining through the white leaves, the reflection reminded me of crystals – except that this all nature. I then turned to the right where I can see the other trees crowded together. I guess it's far different from the others and that's probably why this tree was left here all alone in the meadow; just like me, I'm left alone. I recalled the bad memories from school. I found this meadow when I was being chased by those idiots; they all pick on me because my normal expression was easily mistaken as my glares. I also live in the countryside, unlike everyone else they lived in the city, surrounded by material wealth and unlike me; I don't really have anything except my mother's love. My eyes started to get blurry and the water from my eyes was hanging in the edge. If I blink any time now I would be crying. I continuously stabbed the trunk in anger regardless if there were any bugs crawling or not. I kept stabbing in haste until I was fed up.

"I hate everyone!" I cried and tears trailed down on my cheeks. I chucked the wooden stick towards the field. I immediately leaned back but accidentally banged my head too hard against the tree trunk. My breath was heavy; my heart felt like it was stabbed. It hurts. I automatically shut my eyes and fell unconscious.

Time passed by and the wind whistled. The pure white leaves danced with the wind. There was a young girl leaning behind the wooden pole that was supporting the metal wiring. The breeze was so powerful it pushed her back forward and her black hair covered her face. She spun around in her white lacy dress in harmony with the air. The breeze pushed all of her hair away from her face. Her round eyes gazed at the extraordinary tree in excitement. Curiosity dared her to step underneath wiring. She failed to do it carefully and tripped over as she grazed her knee. It figures that the loose ends of the wire were caught in one of the holes of her lacy white dress. She carefully loosens herself free and wiped the blood off from her knee with her hand. She didn't care; she got up and skipped towards the white tree.

Gary's POV:

I heard a squeaky voice calling out "Hello? Are you ok? Aishh! Why isn't he waking up?!" why won't she shut up? I'm sure I was alone. Wait what happened? My eyes shot open to see the sky appear darker than earlier and the white leaves that were hovering above me. I immediately sat up and turned to see a girl who appears to be younger than me. Her white dress was partially stained by the mud.

Ji Hyo's POV:

The boy sat up which made me jump. "omo! (oh my) gwaenchanayo? (are you ok?)" I asked staring at him. I didn't hear anything so I tilted my head sideways to see if he notices me. He seems older than me but he seemed lost, is he lost? I'm sure he's not lost. Oh well. "Are you lost?" I asked again; he stood up and glared at me. I guess I should've let him sleep, but it's getting dark I'm sure his mother will get worried.

Gary's POV:

"Go." Cold words slipped out of my mouth.

"Why?" she immediately replied. I rubbed my eyes to get a clearer view of her face and I hesitated.

"This is my place, nobody is allowed here except me. Now go." I stated, I'm not usually this harsh but I really wanted to be alone and this girl is really annoying. I'm sure she will go, after all my face scares everyone.

"Since when?" she replied bravely with a blank expression, I guess I was wrong but she sure has guts to say that. I can't remember! When was the last time I've caught myself in a fight with those idiots? I ran with no sense of direction so that's why it took me hours to find my way home.

I cast my eyes on the ground and said "I don't know. All I know is that I come here a lot for as long as I remember."

Dead silence was unleashed between us. The wind blew her hair away revealing her fair skin. She pushed her white dress down in a flash but the wind lifted the sides of her skirt. I promise you, I wasn't peeping. However I noticed her mud stained knees and in one of them there was a graze which looked like it bled for a while. I broke the silence.

"Woah! Gwaenchanayo!? (Are you ok?)" As I asked, I felt the stutter behind my throat. She gazed back at me with her blank expression; is she that oblivious to not notice these things?

"What do you mean?" she frowned; this girl is unbelievably stupid and weird. I sighed as I ripped one of my sleeves from my t-shirt. I cleaned her injured knee and wrapped the remaining sleeve around her knee into a knot. Her face turned sour and her eyebrows cinched towards the centre. I almost laughed but I held it in before she gets agitated. Well at least she does have feelings, what a clumsy idiot.

"Gumawo (thank you)" she mumbled and tried to stand up, she almost tripped over again so I offered her my hand and pulled her up. Our eyes met and I saw her smile. I chuckled.

She glared at me this time and interrogated me:  "Wae? (Why?)"

Why did I? Anyways, I've calmed down for a bit and replied "I thought your mind would be so blank throughout our first meeting. I guess you do have feelings." I joked around and I wasn't surprised when she got angry.

"Aigoo I should've left you all alone with this tree" she sarcastically muttered and I replied "yeah you should've, your voice annoyed me!" she almost threw a punch at me but my reflexes were accurate, I've managed to hold her punch in time.

"You seem violent for your age, I was joking, what's your name?" I asked and hoped to hear my answer answer immediately but she was too busy trying to escape from my grasp. I would've released my hand but just let me tease her longer, it's her fault that I've woke up.

She sighed after reading the message on my face; she then replied and raised her voice "Cheon Seong Im!" I finally let go of her hand and she almost fell backwards due to the immense force from trying to escape.

With my other hand I pulled her in closer, "nice to meet you, I'm Kang Hee Gun." I grinned and she pouted, we couldn't hold in our laughter any longer so we burst our amusement out loud. From today onwards this meadow became our special place for me and her.

Author's notes

Hi again! you have made it to the end of this part, so I thank you!  I hope you like the picture of the meadow, this entire part was inspired by the image as well as the flower garden featured in Howl's Moving Castle (I recommend you to watch this if you are a sucker for fantasy and romance such as I ahaha but if you have not heard of this movie or you are not a fan of anime film, just look it up and you will hopefully understand the influence it has on me on this story. It is one of my favourites).

Also for the rest of the prologue I will be using the character's real names as this is part of their childhood and they were not so famous back then so they wouldn't be in their stage names until I reach the first chapter. I am currently on my summer holiday, sadly coming to an end oh how I wish I did this sooner. When it is September I will officially announce when I will publish the rest of the story in schedule so you wouldn't get any mixed feelings of expectation unless I mention in my next part of the story sooner but thats the limit. my bad guys but please be patient and be supportive so I can motivate myself to dedicate my time to write this.

Stay tuned for the next part of the prologue which is coming in shortly, by then I'll fully explain where i am trying to get with this story. I do not intend to rush the story otherwise it would ruin the excitement and the joy of the readers. Anyway I hope you enjoyed the first part and happy reading!!
