Once upon a time
I knew what love felt like
It was so vivid
Every time I thought about it
I could feel it
Electricity
Sparking through my ribs
Powering my heart
Filling my lungs
Allowing me to breathe
I wasn't scared anymore
How
But now I can't remember
Where there was once lighting
There is now a dull ache
The dull pounding of heavy rain
The only remnant of what you wrought
But now it's my turn
You may have given me a little lightning
But I am a storm
I am the thunder that rumbles in your chest
That shakes you to the bone
That makes your heart falter
I am the rain that pounds the roof
Making you fear the inevitable cave in
That will drown you where you stand
But most of all
I am the Lightning that makes a midnight look like noon
That will bring down the sturdiest oak
With little to no effort
My thunder can silence the earth
My rain can drown out history
My lightning can power the world
And today I decided
I don't need you.
