"So, when are we having our rematch?" you ask, in between bites of your food.
Katsuki rolls his eyes. "Our what?"
"Our rematch. For the Chubby Bunny challenge. We got interrupted last time because of the security alarm, remember? I mean, I was obviously winning, but still."
"You weren't winning," Katsuki snaps.
"Really? Because to me, it seemed like—"
"I said you weren't winning! That didn't count! We didn't get to finish what we started, so there's no way to know who won or lost!"
"Uh-huh..."
You try your best to hide your amusement, though suppressing your smile is easier said than done. Bakugou Katsuki hates to lose, so if he's saying it didn't count, you're willing to bet he'll challenge you again sometime, on his own terms. And he's definitely been practicing on his own. He'll never admit it, of course, but it doesn't change the truth.
All that aside though, you can tell he's been feeling down these past few days. Ever since the work experience placements ended, he's been in low spirits. Especially after seeing how far Izuku has already come with his new Full Cowl ability.
It's easy to get frustrated when others are seemingly making progress at a much faster rate. But it's like what All Might says in canon—that two people who start at completely different levels can't possibly be measured the same way. Izuku started at zero, whereas Katsuki has steadily honed his strength over the years. He also doesn't know that Izuku has an incredibly special, powerful Quirk, which has been passed down through generations.
You can't blame Katsuki for feeling as if he's falling behind, but you also wish he'd just focus on himself instead of comparing every step he takes with Izuku. He still needs more time for him to fully come to terms with Izuku's growth, and you get that, but you also can't help but want to take his mind off things. You want him to be happy and enjoy his life to the fullest, just as you've been doing.
"Hey, Katsuki," you say, setting your chopsticks down. "Do you think I should livestream right now?"
He gives you a bewildered, judgemental look. "Huh? What the hell are you saying now?"
"A livestream," you say again, as if it's obvious. "On YoYoTube. I've never livestreamed while at U.A before, but a lot of my subscribers have been asking me to. I'm sure they'd love it! And since I'm so nice, I'll make sure to include you in the livestream. Maybe you'll get some new fans out of it! No offense, but popularity-wise, you've got a long way to go."
"I'll be popular even without your help!" he cries out indignantly.
"Are you sure? I don't believe you."
"Well, you should!"
"Okay, okay. How about this? If you livestream with me, I'll agree to say our previous Chubby Bunny match ended in a draw, even though I was clearly kicking your ass."
"In what world were you—"
"Too late, I'm starting now!" you grin. "Say hi to everyone!"
You know that if Katsuki really wanted to, he could easily have walked away by now. If he hates the thought of it so much, there's nothing stopping him from picking up his tray and stomping his way over to a different table. But of course he doesn't, and that's because when it comes to most of the threats he makes, he's all talk. He's serious about becoming a hero, and you admire how hard working and determined he is, but pretty much everyone knows to brush off his insults or outcries as they come.
