I Needed Her

Chapter four The Date

Riley woke up it was 11:15am, "saturday. Lucas. Yes." She said as she jumped out of bed. Rushing over to her dresser she pulled out a neat purple dress and a pair of black heel boots. Then rushing into the shower she quickly shampooed and conditioned her hair washing off she got out and changed into her chosen clothes and dried her hair. Straightening her hair she brushed her teeth and admired herself for a moment in the mirror. "This is the look." She smiled as she left the house walking over to Maya's to get her approval. Knowing Maya's mom wasn't home on weekends she walked in the house, "Maya! It's Riley." Riley said as she shut the door behind her. Maya came downstairs her hair was a mess and she was wearing a pair of black sweatpants and a stained white t-shirt and a pair of bunny slippers; her eyes dull as she spoke, "what? Why are you here so early and all dressed up?" Maya said a rasp appeared in her voice from just waking up. Riley laughed a little looking at tired Maya, "remember I have that thing with Lucas today I just want to get ready early." She shrugged walking over to Maya. Maya still half asleep nodded slowly, "tell me when I wake up." She said turning around to walk upstairs to her room. Riley moved to the kitchen as quick as she could while Maya was walking slowly towards the stairs. Filling a big bowl up with cold water she walked over to Maya, "put your face in this bowl of food." She said holding the bowl in front on Maya's face. Maya being mostly sleep by now and hungry let her face fall in the bowl. Maya jumped up and shook out her head as she wiped her face, "god what the hell was that for!" Maya looked up at Riley. Riley smiled, "I needed you awake."

"Wow. Why are you dressed so fancy." Maya looked at Riley's dress.

"I have that thing today with Lucas and I need to know if this is good." Riley said looking at Maya.

"Oh yeah. Cowboy. Why are you still going on the stupid date with him?" Maya asked.

"Well I still want to make other friends." She smiled spinning around, "so is this good?" She asked.

"Beautiful." Maya smiled crookedly before dropping into a neutral face.

"Maya. Do you want to come secretly so you can make sure i'm doing fine." Riley smiled worriedly.

Maya rolled her eyes, "yeah I guess so." She said grabbing Riley's hand and dragging her up to her room, "you get to pick out my clothes while I lay back down." Maya said as she went into her room and lied down on her bed. Riley smiled and started going through Maya's dresser pulling out everything that was camoflauge, "this." She smiled holding up an entire camouflage outfit. Maya looked up her eyes wide at the outfit, "no."

"yes." Riley smiled.

"No."

"Yes."

"No Riley." Maya rolled her eyes.

"Why not." Riley dropped the outfit and crossed her arms.

"Because its ugly. Pick something decent that won't make me look horrible and wake me up when you find it." Maya said falling back on the bed and closing her eyes.

Riley smiled, "fine." She said as she walked over to Maya and kneeled down, "you awake?" She poked Maya's nose. Maya's eyes stayed closed her mouth stayed straight she had no expression but sleep planted on her face. Riley kissed Maya's forehead and walked over to find some better clothes for her. Finally after about an hour of looking she settled on a blue flannel with a white undershirt a pair of black skinny jeans and her black converse. Riley walked over to Maya's bed and sat down looking at Maya sleeping. Riley poked Maya a few times on her cheek before Maya started to wake up. "What?" Maya looked up at Riley. "I chose a good outfit." she giggled clapping her hands. Maya sat up and sighed, "let's see.". Riley smiled and stepped off the bed grabbing the clothes she choose and set them on Maya's lap, "here." She kept smiling. Maya looked at the clothes and nodded slowly, "good good." She got up. "i'll go change into it." She said walking outside of her room and into the bathroom. Changing quickly she placed the clothes she had been wearing in a white basket. Walking back into her room she rubbed her eyes, "what time is it anyways?" Maya asked Riley who was sitting on Maya's bed. "It's like 1:30." Riley smiled. Maya glared at Riley, "you're not going on the date until 7:00. Why are we getting ready now." Maya said sitting down on her bed next to Riley. Riley giggled, "I want to look pretty." She smiled. Maya rolled her eyes the room going with silence, "maybe I should have came later." Riley said slowly as she swung her feet at the edge of Maya's bed. Maya nodded slowly and leaned to her side and kissed Riley, Riley to her surprise kissed Maya back, soon enough the day went by Maya and Riley watched a few movies ate some ice cream then 6:30 came. Riley stood up and stretched fixing her hair around she looked over to Maya, "it's time for Lucas time." She smiled. Maya rolled her eyes and stood up getting off her bed, "your house then. Oh and don't worry about me i'll stay out of the way and watch from a distance if you're feeling like you're messing up tell him you need to get some air or something okay?" Maya said. Riley smiled, "okay. Lets go. Im ready, Lucas time."

Maya sighed as she watched Riley get all excited about Lucas, Maya was the jealous type but she knew that she would completely mess up with Riley if she said or did anything so she kept calm following Riley down to her house on the subway. When they reached Riley's house Maya waited outside sitting on a bench as she waited and watched. Lucas soon turned up around 7:05 and Riley came down, "you're late." She did her most serious face though Maya could tell she had been holding back a smile. Lucas laughed, "five minutes isn't much." He shrugged, "come one I was thinking a picnic." He said. Riley nodded and noticed the little picnic basket and blanket in his hands. "I'm ready." She smiled as she began to follow Lucas up towards a calm park, climbing up a hill they lied out the blue blanket and started placing out the food on the blanket. "Well you're a good cook. Even brang chicken, some fruit. Oooh strawberries." She looked at a decent sized container filled with the red fruit. Lucas chuckled, "I heard that it was one of your favorite fruits." He smiled. "Oh I brang some salad and grapes and uh well the main meal is chicken. I didn't make it though I bought it." He smiled as he opened the container of chicken, "so tell me about yourself." He grabbed a piece of chicken and looked up at Riley who was already starting to eat the strawberries. Maya rolled her eyes as she climbed up a tree with a bit of a struggle she sat on a branch and watched Riley and Lucas talk, watching and watching Lucas try to flirt and Riley smiling as he did. Watching them eat watching them run around, she doesn't even need me here she's doing fine. Maya thought, looking at her watch the numbers reading out 8:32pm. Maya sighed as she watched soon Lucas asked if she wanted him to take her home of course she said yes like every date, like the movies this seems to be, all they need is a goodnight kiss. But Riley would never do that, right? She thought to herself as she began to climb slowly down the tree, following Lucas and Riley. Of course they took a much longer way and Maya was a bit lazy and didn't get too much activity yet she pulled through soon enough they made it to Riley's apartment building, Lucas smiled and started to talk.

"I had a great time Riley. Maybe we can do it again sometime." He smiled moving closer.

"Maybe we can I wouldn't mind going on another date." She smiled looking up at Lucas.

"Yeah I wouldn't mind either." He smiled and leaned closer in.

Maya had pretty much no choice but to watch as Lucas tried to make a move on Riley though she couldn't help but be a little scared watching to see what Riley would do.

Riley watched Lucas lean in though she thought of Maya and maybe she thought just maybe Maya wouldn't be watching. Looking around with her eyes before she looked back at Lucas. Lucas looked down at Riley before tilting his head slightly and locking his lips with Riley's. Maya froze before getting the urge to rush out and punch both of them instead she turned around and walked away towards the subway. Making her way home.

Riley pulled away and smiled, "I would love to do this again." She smiled before walking into her apartment building using a key. Lucas smiled and waved goodbye before leaving making his way to the subway.
