Sunday, November 1st 1925, 8.22am
Inside the Brown Farm, the next morning, Scott and Suzy are back in their 2015 clothes. Doc is also in clothes that would look normal in 1985.
CLARA
Well goodbye Scott. Goodbye Suzy. Have a safe journey home. Maybe we’ll meet again at some point in the future.
DOC
Or in the past. Even though we’d love to have you over again, I hope we don’t see you here again. Time-travelling is far too dangerous to play around with.
SCOTT
Yes Doc, I think we’ve learned our lesson.
SUZY
What do you mean we? It was all your idea to take the DeLorean in the first place.
DOC
Well we’d better get going. Your great adventure isn’t over yet. We’ve still got get the DeLorean fixed in the future.
CLARA
Oh, I hope Jules and Verne are okay. It’s been so long since I’ve seen the boys.
DOC
I’ll tell them they’re well over-due a visit to their dear old mother.
SCOTT
Well take care Clara; it’s been lovely to meet you.
SUZY
Yeah, thanks for everything, you’ve been great.
Clara waves Doc, Scott and Suzy off with Edison at her side. They head into the barn and the DeLorean/Bi-plane.
DOC
Are you ready to go back to the future?
SCOTT
Bring it on!
Doc presses a remote control on his key ring and the whole of the back end of the barn opens up to reveal a runway. The three of them get into the DeLorean.
Inside the DeLorean, Doc powers it up.
DOC
Time circuits on. Destination October 27th 1985 11.45am.
Doc punches in the destination as he says it.
DOC
Let’s see what this baby can do.
Doc switches the ignition and the bi-plane roars into life.
They speed up along the runway and take off. Clara waves a hanky as they speed into the sky. Edison barks at the side of Clara.
Inside the DeLorean, the dial is creeping up to fifty miles-per-hour.
SCOTT
This is great!
DOC
Let’s make it over to Hilldale for we travel through time, so we arrive at the right place. We’d best make sure we stay under 88 miles-per-hour for now.
The DeLorean/bi-plane soars off towards Hilldale.
Inside the DeLorean, Doc checks his location.
DOC
That’s it, nice and high. We don’t want to be seen arriving in 1985 out of thin air do we?
There is a jolt. Doc sees a loose pipe dangling outside. The plane cuts out.
DOC
In the name of Sir Isaac H Newton…
SUZY
What’s happening?
DOC
That pipe’s been cut. There’s no way it could’ve snapped.
SCOTT
What are we going to do?
DOC
By my calculations, we can get up to 88 by free falling and get to 1985. The trouble is landing. We can only glide so much. We need to get power back into the plane before we’re going to crash.
SCOTT
How are we gonna do that?
DOC
Someone is going to have to get out there and re-attach the cable.
Doc and Suzy look at Scott.
SCOTT
Why are you both looking at me?
Outside the DeLorean, the gull-wing door opens as much as it can on the falling DeLorean. Scott climbs through with a rope attached to his waist. The wind makes it difficult to move quickly. The cable ran from the plane down to the DeLorean. Now the top-part dangles from the plane and the lower-part hangs limply on the top of the DeLorean.
DOC
Sixty!
Scott manages to haul himself up and hang onto the side of the plane. He grabs the lower part of the cable and climbs higher.
DOC
Sixty-five!
Scott reaches up to the top cable which is just out of reach. He just about grabs it when he loses his footing and slips down and ends up hanging below the DeLorean. He still has the lower-part in his hand.
SCOTT
Arrgh!
SUZY
Scott!
DOC
Seventy.
Scott uses all his strength to pull himself up with the help of Suzy who is strapped in with her seat-belt on. Scott grits his teeth and pulls himself right up the side of the plane and gets hold of the top-part of the cable.
DOC
Seventy-five.
SUZY
Scott, hurry up!
Scott wraps his arm around a pole on the plane. He connects the two pieces of cable together, pulls some tape out of his pocket which he got from the DeLorean and wraps it around the cable to secure it.
DOC
Eighty miles-per-hour!
SCOTT
Doc! It’s connected.
SUZY
Get back in, quick!
Scott looks down and sees the ground approaching fast. Doc manages to start the plane up and it sharply swings back upwards. Scott’s head swims and he falls head-over-heels. He grabs the windscreen wiper on the DeLorean.
SCOTT
I’m slipping!
SUZY
Grab my hand!
Suzy unfastens her seatbelt, leans out of the car and reaches to Scott.
DOC
Eight-five!
SUZY
Grab hold!
Scott swings his arm to Suzy. She grabs fast and pulls with all her strength. The DeLorean starts to light up ready to travel through time.
Suzy heaves Scott back inside the DeLorean. He falls over Doc. Suzy reaches the door, slams it shut, just as three sonic-booms sound and all that can be seen out of the DeLorean is a bright flash.
