She was crying.
For no reason.
Absolutely no reason.
"I don't know why I'm crying," she said, voice shaky.
Taehyung sat beside her immediately.
"It's okay."
"I'm being dramatic."
"Yes."
She glared at him through tears.
"Excuse me?"
He softened instantly.
"I mean—adorably dramatic."
"Better."
She leaned into him.
"I feel weird."
"I know."
"I feel emotional."
"I know."
"I feel like—"
"I know."
She paused.
Looked at him.
"You don't even know what I'm going to say."
"I don't need to."
He pulled her closer gently.
Resting his chin lightly against her head.
"I've got you."
AT MIDNIGHT -
It started quietly.
Too quietly.
"Taehyung..."
Her voice was softer than usual.
He looked up instantly.
"What happened?"
"I think..."
She paused, gripping the edge of the bed slightly.
"...it's time."
Everything in him froze.
"What?"
"I think I'm in labor."
For a second—
He didn't move.
Didn't react.
Didn't process.
Then—
Chaos.
"Okay. Okay—wait—no—what do I do?"
She blinked.
"You're the calm one, remember?"
"Not today."
He grabbed his phone.
Keys.
Bag.
Everything at once.
Dropping half of it.
Picking it back up again.
"Taehyung."
He stopped.
Looked at her.
She reached for his hand.
"I'm okay."
That grounded him.
Just enough.
"I've got you," he said, voice lower now.
But not fully steady.
Time blurred.
Voices.
Doctors.
Nurses.
Movement everywhere.
But Taehyung?
He didn't leave her side.
Not once.
He held her hand tightly.
Too tightly.
"Taehyung," she breathed, "you're crushing my hand."
He loosened his grip instantly.
"Sorry."
A pause.
Then—
"...don't let go."
"I won't."
Hours passed.
And for the first time—
She saw it.
Him.
Vulnerable.
Not the CEO.
Not the confident man.
Not the one who always had control.
Just—
Him.
Scared.
"What if something goes wrong?" he said quietly.
The question slipped out before he could stop it.
She looked at him.
Even through the pain—
She noticed.
"Hey..."
She squeezed his hand.
"We're okay."
He shook his head slightly.
"You don't understand."
His voice dropped.
"I can handle anything."
A pause.
"But not this."
That hit her.
Harder than anything else.
"You won't lose me," she said softly.
His eyes met hers.
Full of something raw.
Real.
"I already almost did once."
She softened instantly.
"That was different."
"This feels worse."
Another contraction hit—
She winced.
He immediately leaned closer.
"I'm here."
"I know."
