Behind Enemy Lines

Bucky's POV

"JENEEL!" he cries out as he watches her fall to the ground the fire that had once been surrounding her was now gone. He feels his feet move instinctively as they carry him out to where she laid completely naked save for a metal chain dangling from her neck. "Duggan!" He yells out as he reaches down to see that she still had a pulse. 'What they hell had just happened?' He thinks to himself as he pulls his uniform jacket off and drapes it over her before reaching down to lift her up into his arms. She was warm. Well more than warm she was burning up. That could explain what he had seen earlier.

That still made absolutely no sense to him. How could she just erupt in flames and walk away unscathed? He made a mental note to ask her when she woke up. That is if she woke up. "How is she?" Duggan asks as he nears them.

"She still has a pulse but it's faint."

"How do you suppose she did that?"

"I have no idea, but we'll have to ask her when she wakes up." He replies as he tightens his grip on her. Sounds behind them cause Bucky's adrenaline to spike and he instantly starts to run which proved very difficult with her in his arm but he wasn't about to leave her there. Before they made it too far they looked forward to see the rest of their platoon being captured by the enemy. Bucky freezes in his footsteps as he stares at all the German soldiers rounding up what was left of his platoon.

Before he can think of something he hears a German voice cry out behind him and he clutches tight to her body not wanting them to hurt her. Duggan and Gabe lift their hands over their heads in surrender while Bucky remains still not wanting to let go of Jeneel. He slowly turns toward the soldiers and as they see her in his arms their eyes widen in shock. The lead German soldier motions for them all to follow the rest of their company and they oblige. Bucky clutches tightly to her to make clear to them that he wasn't about to leave her behind or let them have her.

One of the soldiers says something to their leader but he just shakes his head. Apparently he wasn't too concerned about an American soldier carrying a half dead woman. This is exactly what ended up happening, as Bucky carried her all the way to a Factory hidden 30 behind enemy lines.

Upon reaching the factory they are all thrown into jail cells one by one by one. He was surprised that no one thought to or even tried to take her away from him. Thankfully Bucky was placed in a cell along with Duggan and Gabe. The rest of the men looked at him in shock when they noticed a girl in his arms. "How is she?" Duggan asks as he holds his hands out to take her.

"Still out but I could feel her temperature lowering." Bucky says as he slowly hands her to his friend.

"I'm not sure if that's a good thing or a bad thing." Duggan says as he walks over to the most secluded corner of the cell and sets her down before He kneels down beside her to check her wound. His eyes widen in shock as he sees that it was gone. "Would you look at that?" He says to Bucky making him turn toward them. "What are you girl?" Duggan says as he wipes her long red hair from her face.

"I've never seen anything like that in my life," Gabe says as he stares at her wide eyed. "Have you guys?"

"No," Duggan and Bucky reply in unison. A sound behind Bucky makes him turn toward it only to find a German soldier tossing a set of clothes at him before he points to Jeneel. Bucky clenches his jaw and the soldier immediately closes the cell door again and walks away. "Duggan," Bucky says as he hands the clothes over to him.

"Bucky, these are from members of B Company." Duggan says and Bucky's eyes drop. Dam war. "At least she'll be covered." He lets out a sigh before walking over to place himself in between her and the rest of his company. They had been brought to a factory about 30 miles behind enemy line and could only guess what they had planned for everyone.
