"Johann Schmidt belongs in a bughouse." Colonel Phillips says as he stares at a map in front of him. "He thinks he's a god, and he's willing to blow up half the world to prove it, starting with the USA."
"Schmidt's working with powers beyond our capabilities." Howard says as he walks in and sets down beside me. "He gets across the Atlantic; he will wipe out the entire Eastern Seaboard in an hour."
"How much time we got?" Gabe asks as I glance over at Howard who gently takes my hand in his and clutches it.
"According to my new best friend, under 24 hours." Colonel Phillips replies and I glance up at him.
'Where is he now?" Jacques asks and I bite lip.
"Hydra's last base is here." Phillips says as he holds up a picture, "IN the Alps, 500 feet below the surface."
"So what are we supposed to do? I mean, it's not like we can just knock on the front door." Jim says as he studies the picture in front of him.
"Why not?" Steve asks making me turn toward him. "That's exactly what we're gonna do."
"I'm in," I say as I look from him to the rest of the people at the table. "Steve and I go in first, make it look like we're surrendering, then give you all the signal to come charging in."
"Jen," Howard starts but Steve stops him. "I agree. Jen and I will take point the rest of you will surround the facility and wait for my signal."
Everyone starts to leave the room save for myself and Howard who had decided we needed to talk. When we are alone he turns to me and says, "What are you doing?"
"I'm finishing the mission."
"You could die did you every think of that?"
"I did Howard but it doesn't matter."
"Doesn't matter?" He says astounded. "Your life does matter Jen."
"Howard I'm tired," I say stopping him before he can say anything else. "I miss my home and the people there. I want to go home but I can't. I don't belong in this time but I can't leave it. The best thing to do is to just go out swinging don't you think?"
"Jen," He starts but I stop him.
"You're my friend Howard, one of the only ones I have so just trust me that everything will work out in the end."
"I don't like it," He says sighing, "But I trust you."
"Thank you for everything you have done for me," I say as I wrap my arms around him.
"IT was my pleasure," he replies before pulling away and letting me walks out of the room. I quickly make my way to where Steve is and wait for us to leave.
I hold on tightly to Steve's waist as I sit behind him astride his motorcycle. He veers through trees as we make our way speedily down the road toward the HYDRA base. As we start to near it Six bikers appears from behind us and start shooting at us. "You go this?" Steve calls back to me and I nod. I quickl maneuver around until I am sitting backwards on the bike facing the enemy behind us. taking a deep breath I let the fire surge through my body and creating a fireball start firing them off one by one at the bikers until they all burst into flame.
Two more suddenly appear in front of us as I hear Steve call out, "Hang on!" I grip tightly to the seat as he speeds up and passing the two bike pulls a pin from one of their bombs making it explode. I shield Steve from the fire as we press on. "Tank up ahead!" He calls out and I turn back around and wrap my arms around his waist as he places his shield on the handle bars. As we near the tank Steve presses a button making rockets shoot out of the front of his bike and hitting the Tank cause it to explode. Steve then veers to the right as he uses the gate as a ramp to get past the now smoldering tank.
