"Jen, Natasha, Wanda; how lovely to see you all again!" Susan, or invisible girl as the world called her, calls out as we walk off the elevator. I smile as I walk over and wrap my arms around her neck. "I missed you." She says and my smile turns soft.
"I missed you too." I reply as she hugs me back. I spot a sight of orange and my smile brightens as I pull away from her and run over to wrap my arms around my friend Ben's neck.
"Hey Fire-starter where ya been?" His deep voice booms out and I smile.
"The 1940's," I say as I pull away from him and looking up laugh at his clueless expression.
"You're serious?"
"Yup, it's a long story though." I say as I pull away and wink at him. "I'll have to tell you about it later."
"So what brings you by?" Susan asks and I sigh.
"I came to pick up the rest of my stuff."
"Really?" Ben asks his eyes full of curiosity and I nod.
"I'm kinda sorta seeing someone new, so I don't want to leave any reason here for Johnny to show up and make a scene." I say shoving my hands into my jacket pockets.
"I understand completely," Susan says smiling softly at me.
"Come on, I'll walk with you." Ben says and I smile as I follow along beside him into the apartment. I glance back to see Natasha and Wanda talking with Susan and I sigh inwardly. "So who's the new guy? What's he like?"I hear Ben ask and I smile softly.
"Well his name is James Buchanan Barnes, or Bucky, and he's a soldier. Super soldier actually, and a master assassin. Pretty much death incarnate." I say and I giggle as Ben looks at me in shock.
"You're joking right?"
"Only slightly," I say as we start to walk up the stairs. "He's not death incarnate,"
"You sure know how to pick em Hun." He says and I chuckle.
"Well to be honest I did sort of pick him before he became an assassin. He probably won't admit it now but he's a good guy."
"So when do I get to meet this Bucky?"He asks and I raise an eyebrow at him.
"Ben, you can't scare him away," I say scowling at him.
"I won't I just want to meet him." he replies quickly and I rolls my eyes.
"Right," I say shaking my head.
"Look I know you and Johnny aren't gonna get back together and that's fine," He says as he stops and turns to me his eyes filled with sincerity. "But I still want to make sure you have a guy that's gonna take care of you."
"I know Ben; I assure you that Bucky will be that guy. At least, I hope he will." I say smiling softly at him.
"I hope I'm not interrupting." I hear Johnny say and I turn to see him standing in the doorway of his room and I gulp down a breath of air. He looked surprisingly rough. His hair was longer than its usual buzz cut length and he had dark circles under his eyes. I stare at him for a moment in shock at his appearance before I say sarcastically, "Would you care if you had?"
"Probably not," He replies quickly but I can tell he's lying. Johnny wasn't a bad guy he was just a bad boyfriend. "So what are you doing here?" He asks as his eyes fall to stare at Bucky's jacket. I could see a sudden feeling of regret flash through them but I quickly push it out of my mind.
"I came to get the rest of my stuff." I say quickly and his eyes twitch.
"Right, sure, come on in," He says as he takes a step back and I lean up and gently kiss Ben's cheek as I say, "I'll see you tomorrow night at Tony's, okay?"
