***POV: Tom***
"Just the person I was looking for Lucretia," I purred leaning against the wall.
"And what is it you want?" Lucretia sneered continuing to walk by.
"I thought I'd just pass along a little warning, my little bird," I whispered. "If you ever attempt to harm Beatrix in any way, not only will your parents here about 'that' event, but you can also rest assured that Abraxas will never take a second look at you. We can either be friends Lucretia or we could be enemies." I walked in the opposite direction towards the Great Hall leaving behind a very concerned and fearful Lucretia.
"Tom, I'd been looking for you all morning," a voice greeted as I sat down at a table.
"And why would you be doing that Lestrange?" I answered.
"Well, Tom, it would seem that your little snake has been making some interesting friends," He responded.
"And who would they be?" I questioned.
"Daniel Potter and from what I've heard that mud-blood girl that used to date him," Lestrange sneered.
"Interesting," I murmured. So Beatrix is talking to Potter and a mud-blood... I wonder what's going on...
***POV: Beatrix***
Things seemed to be finally looking up for me and in the oddest of forms as well. With the knowledge that I needed allies stuck in my head, I decided to take a sad situation and gain some friends out of it. Granted it was a rather Slytherin approach to the problem, but I wasn't sorted into that house for nothing. After what Rebecca told me, I decided to go talk to Daniel about it and indeed my theory about his parents involvement was correct. With a little help from me, I managed to get the two back together. I mean sure Daniel's parents weren't pleased with Daniel's decision, but they figured it was a phase and he'd grow out of it. In the end, however, I managed to make two new friends: Daniel Potter and Rebecca Miles. Rebecca wasn't half-bad really. I don't know why all the pure-bloods are so against muggle-born's and half-blood's. I mean they're just like the rest of us so why does heritage matter so much?
In other news, Daniel was very much aware of our family's, especially Sirius's, ways. Both Daniel and Rebecca decided that it was best that the three of us stick together, and I couldn't agree more. Tom's group was great and all, but no matter how many people joined it. I still needed outside help. Speaking of Tom, I still haven't had a chance to talk to him. What in the world is he doing? I shook my head as I continued to read my book on potions in the library. It was almost Christmas and still no word from him...
"Beatrix?" a voice called. I looked up and met the smile of Abraxas.
"Hi Abraxas," I greeted. "What can I do for you?"
"Well, it's more out of curiosity that I sought you out," Abraxas began. "Your new acquaintances are rather... surprising and I couldn't help but think there was a reason behind it." I looked at Abraxas considering telling him or not. He was in Tom's group and had been nothing but a help to me so far... Perhaps I should take a risk.
"Isn't there a reason behind every action?" I questioned.
"But of course." Abraxas retorted. "I just find your reasoning to be rather puzzling. I can't seem to figure it out."
I gave him a small smile, "Meet me by the lake during free period tomorrow." I left the library feeling his curious gaze follow after me.
The next day came all too fast for me and I found myself sitting down at the bench next to the lake. Due to the fact that it was winter and freezing, the area around the lake was empty.
"I'll admit," A voice stated, "this is quite the secluded place. I assume your reasons should be kept quiet then?"
I silently cast a silence charm around the area before speaking, "Before I tell you anything, I need your word that this does not extend beyond those who are already aware of what I will tell you."
"You have my word as a Malfoy that I would never speak a word of what I hear from you to any other," Abraxas swore. "Beatrix no matter what you tell me, whether it is what you say now or what you will say in the future, no other living soul shall ever know." I nodded my head and told him everything that was happening within the Black Family.
"My father had thought something fickle was happening within that family," Abraxas responded. "I guess he was right. I can't offer you the entire Malfoy Family's support, but I can offer you mine. Over the time I've come to know you, I've come to see you as a sister and within my family, we help each other. Whatever you need at whatever time; don't be afraid to ask." I smiled and pulled Abraxas into a hug. I headed back to the common room with my hopes high. This year may have started out bumpy, but I've managed to gather three more allies to my cause. I can only hope to escape the fate my grandfather has stored away for me.
The next months passed quickly. Christmas was splendid and I finally spoke with Tom more. He was still rather distant, but I could sense that beneath that tough front he was putting up, he was still concerned about me. And so my second year came to an end and soon after my summer as well. I still have no clue as to what Tom's up to, but with any luck, the next year would bring about more answers.
