The princess was tough to impress. Everyday she saw countless acts of magic and everyday she found the flaw in what they did. While the others applauded at the amazing work, the princess said all what they did wrong. Her advisers agreed with her fully, although she wished they do not do so. She was cruel and heartless and she didn't want everyone to think her way was right. She wasn't always this mean. She once was the kindest person you would ever meet. But that changes quite quickly.
It was hard for her father to run the kingdom after her mother left and never returned. The king always got advice from the queen. She was only fifteen when her mother left for a trip and sixteen when she heard the horrible news. That night she locked herself away to grieve. She had one sibling who was seven and wasn't told of the news. Therefore he didn't know the sadness she felt, she was all alone. Sure her maids were there to comfort her and Matilda, the chef, treated her like a daughter, but they didn't truly get it, they weren't truly her parents.
After that one day locked away, the princess told herself that she cannot just stay in here forever, that's not what her mother would like. She would want her to be an amazing queen and spread joy and laughter like they had done through the kingdom. Her father, still locked away in his room all of the days, needed help forgetting. The next day she went outside to find the kingdom dark. The sun was shining bright and yet the atmosphere of the place was dreary. No one was smiling and when they did it was a smile of pity, not happiness.
As of seeing this the princess riding her horse, Majesty, into town, was sad and pathetic.
"Hello my fellow friends!" The princess called out, acting as if she was her parents talking to the townspeople, "I would like to inform you personally of a festival that will be held to celebrate the life of our dear queen. She would not want us to pity her or cry, but instead celebrate her life. So come one come all tonight at the palace! It will be a night to remember." As the princess rode her horse back to the palace she could hear "hoorays" and laughter from the crowd. The princess smiled finally, she could feel happiness returning.
That night everyone came to the festival. The castle was decorated with brightly colored flags and flowers of every kind. Inside, the great hall had a stage set up inside with the best band in town playing jolly tunes on it. Everyone danced with smiles and laughter, everyone could say they were the happiest then. Even the king came outside of his room to celebrate for a little. The princess finally saw a smile on his face.
The princess was at the refreshment table enjoying the music when a prince from another land came up to ask to dance. He was a handsome boy with brown hair and blue eyes that sparkled in the light. The princess agreed and they danced together until nightfall. The prince then led her outside, under a canopy.
"You are an amazing dancer," the princess remarked
"And so are you," replied the prince, "Your mother must have taught you well." The princess's heart hurt a little. Her mother used to twirl her around the princess's bedroom until bedtime. It was one of her favorite moments of the day, even as a teenager.
"Yes, she did," said the princess hiding the pain from the comment.
"This is a beautiful kingdom. But it needs a king when you get to the throne," said the prince. She started to notice the princes skin getting lighter, almost white, and his head becoming bald. The scariest of all was his eyes becoming dark, dark pits of blackness.
"What's wrong with a queendom," asked the princess.
"Well for starters, then I wouldn't be able to rule," said the prince.
That was the last thing the princess heard before she blacked out. She woke up a little once and saw herself in the back of a dark carriage. The windows were tinted, so you couldn't see outside. She then fell asleep.
When she awoke a second time she was in a forest. The weather was warm and even though you couldn't see the moon, there was still light. Fireflies lit the pathways. It was a place that she had never seen before, so perfect, so unique. Everything was perfect, like it was manmade and took countless years of planning. The princess, being a curious girl, walked farther into the woods, looking around, soon she found a spot where no light reached. She walked further in and suddenly black out again.
As she awoke, she heard the sound of chatter and amazement. She opened her eyes to find little beings looking over her, she looked down to see she too was little. The village was made up of houses that were acorns and flowers. A giant cockroach walked behind the walls of little people, carrying a cart full of seeds. As her eyes adjusted, she saw that the little people had wings. They all had different colors and patterns and their clothes were made of leaves. Their hair was put in perfect styles of many different types. She was amazed to find she found a fairy town.
"Eat miss, you must be hungry," said a hazel haired fairy who was wearing her hair down. She gave the princess what looked like a flower petal and the princess sipped. Whatever was inside tasted like the most beautiful thing ever. The princess was taken to a place where agony was gone and all that was there was floating and peace. As soon as the sensation was there it was gone and she was stuck with her feelings.
"Join us," spoke the hazel haired fairy again.
"I have nothing back home to go to, so I might as well," the princess smiled, maybe this was where she belonged.
"Look!" cried a red-headed fairy. He was pointing at her back.
She looked and saw golden wings grow. They were a different design than the others and looked like they melted away.
"She is the queen, she has the queen marks!" rejoiced the fairies. Since then, the princess ruled all fairies. Fairies would come far and wide just to see her. She promised herself that she would make each and every human anybody finds a fairy, so that she can rule them, just like she was supposed to, but that was taken away.
