As we made our way to the bakery, Jasper told me all about the things he'd done in his lifetime. He described everything in such details that I felt like I was almost there with him. Not there, but in the background looking at it from afar. When we arrived at the bakery, I put Jasper outside and entered. When I went inside, I was greeted by the warmest air I had ever felt. It instantly took the cold from me and made me feel all warm. A young boy about my age spotted me and came up.
"What is a young girl like you shopping for bread, shouldn't your mother be shopping while you are cleaning?" asked the boy. I have been confused a lot to be younger than I am. I've always been short for my age according to Vladmire.
"For your information, I'm 16 today, making me have more responsibility," I say trying to stay confident through the many lies I am going to have to tell. I've never been the best at lying.
"Oh, I'm so sorry. It is my birthday too. I'm even going to be 16!" said the boy. I then realized that this must be the prince. He was my age and seemed to be the only one around here to be.
"Wow! That's quite unusual," I said, trying to sound surprise.
"My name is Barric by the way and you are..."
"Evangeline," I said, "Now may I please have some bread?"
"Oh yes of course. How rude of me not to ask. Just not a lot of kids my age come here," he said looking at me with a goofy smile that could make any girl's heart melt. All except this girl. I've learned not to trust love. Barric went to receive the bread and brought it back. It was still warm and felt good in the inside of my cloak.
"Well, I best be going," I said, not wanting to get in trouble with Vladmire.
"Oh, please won't you stay," Barric said pleading, "I haven't had another company in so long."
"Okay fine, but I must be going to soon," I sat down. The table was between us and people passed us, not giving the two sixteen year olds a thought. All the through the conversation, I wasn't listening much to what Barric was telling me. I just added little "uh-huh" and "yes" throughout. I was only thinking about how Vladmire given me the worst chore ever.
