"My queen," I heard Perri say as she opened the door. The house suddenly became colder in a way. I felt like something was tugging me to come out of my hiding spot. Not just something, someone. Someone else's voice was in my head telling me to go up to this so called queen and tell her I was here, to become a fairy and let this queen rule over me. I wanted to be her servant even if I had never met her. My one goal in life was to make her happy, whatever it took, even if it meant to give up my adventure.
My adventure? I was on a quest. I snapped out of my odd thoughts and continued to listen to the conversation downstairs. I heard whimpers from someone, Perri I guessed, and stuff being thrown about.
"They aren't down here," called a feminine voice. It was the purest, lightest, and sweetest voice I had ever heard. It was the voice that wanted me to let the queen rule me.
I heard grunts of agreement from several men at the same time, like they were some kind of toy that the children made that would drop at the same time. There was then whispering that I couldn't make out from my hiding spot. It seemed like the person who the voice belonged to was making the orders. She raised her voice a little rougher as to get her orders in straight. She seemed like she wanted to scare them into doing her bidding rather than just plainly asking the men. Whoever owned the voice I hope she never found me.
Jasper was restless after a while. He wasn't used to being held, since he was abandoned most of his life. I had to admit I was getting restless too, crouched up into a tiny ball with box corners digging into my side. I didn't dare to move as if the owner of the wickedly beautiful voice was a spider and could sense the littlest movement. There was still movement footsteps underneath us and the woman whispering orders. I sometimes heard Perri yelling to not touch that and the woman telling her to be quiet. The other fairy we captured was not to be heard and I wondered if he escaped.
Suddenly the door to the attic opened.
"Your majesty!" yelled the man who opened the door, "There is an upstairs part of the house!"
"Ah, you're a sneaky fairy aren't you my dear," called the voice as loud as ever. It sent chills up my spine just to hear her. I cuddled with Jasper into the tiniest ball I could without crushing him. I could feel his little heartbeat through his fur, beating faster than normal and I was guessing mine was too. The door swung down more until it thudded on the ground. I heard the click of high-heels on the floor as the woman climbed the steep stairs.
"I know you're up here," called "her majesty" as the man had said, "You will have less of a punishment if you come out now."
The woman was getting impatient now. I could hear the nastiness in her voice rise. She wanted me badly. But the question was why? The wicked lady started pushing boxes onto the floor on the opposite side of the room. Things were breaking inside when they toppled onto the floor and I could hear Perri crying, probably from the destruction this woman had done.
The women crept closer, now pushing down boxes two at a time to go faster, to find her wanted person. Box after box my heart was beating faster and faster and louder and louder until I thought the whole entire town could hear my heart. I couldn't die like this. This wasn't right.
Finally the woman pushed down the box in front of me. I was exposed. I dug my head down into Jasper's coat like I could disappear into his fur. I would never finish my quest, never see Barric again, never live to be an adult.
"Look up at me child," said the woman. This time she said it nicely. I followed as she told me to do. She already had me, I should do what she said. I've seen Vladmire torture enough people to know when you're caught to just go with what you capture said.
I looked up out of the safety of my friends fur to see the woman who owned the voice
