Minutes after Aufiero shuts the door, someone knocks on it. I open it this time.

"Noelle, pleasure to see you. The president is requesting you again"

"Now?"

"Yes, now"

"Can't he like notify me when he needs me. You guys just can't pop up and expect me to just leave. I have a family"

"You can bring your family"

I give him a straight face and he smirks. "30 minutes and I'll be at your door again" I roll my eyes and close the door. "Do you wanna come with me to Washington?" Aufiero frowns. "Now?"

"Yes"

"Uh, I guess..."

"Well, pack a bag. And pack one for Noni too. We have 30 minutes"

Next Day

Noni and Aufiero stayed at the hotel while I went to the white house. It's kind of weird knowing that the president is actually my real father. I mean, it changes things.

The white house is pretty calm for it to be the middle of the day. Maybe everyone is in a meeting or something. Johnathan leads the way to the oval office. The door is cracked.
I can see him sitting behind his desk looking over something.

"Mr.President"Johnathan says slightly pushing the door open. He smiles and motions for us to come in. "Noelle, Ive heard that you've talked to your mother" He greets. "How did you hear that?"

"I called her but anyways, did she tell you what you needed to know"

"I guess so"

"What did she say?"

"That you're my father"

"Indeed"

My eyes flicker to the side of his face. There's a birthmark on his ear.

"Have a seat"He says. "This is kind of awkward"I whisper, eyes still fixed on his birthmark. Chuckling, he grabs his water bottle from his desk and sits across from me. "I've always wondered about you. I've dreamt of this moment too many times"

"What was it like knowing that you had a child somewhere out there that you couldn't see?" I queried. My eyes had now settled on his face. The pain was clear in his glossy hazel orbs. Unscrewing the cap, he drank from his bottle then set it back down.

"It was harrowing. I sometimes wondered if you were even alive. Your mom was rather cavalier when it came to how I felt about the pregnancy. She kept telling me you weren't mine but I didn't believe her."
"I searched for about 12 years. She ignored my calls, texts, emails, everything. Sometimes, I felt that I was being to maudlin but that didn't stop me. Well, it didn't stop me at that point in time. During the course of those 12 years, I tried to rebuild my life. I married Lauryn and she became pregnant. I thought that maybe God was trying to give me another chance" He paused and drank more water.

"I just tries to focus on my family y'know. I had already lost you and your mom, I didn't wanna lose them too. Hope still lingered in my heart so I got some people to look into it. Unfortunately, I couldn't really trust them so that was cut short. With everything going on, I kind of just pushed you to the side"

"I probably would've pushed me to the side too"I added. He smiles. "I don't want you to think that I just gave up. I did the best I could but there's only so much that a man can take"

"What made you start looking again?"I question. "Well, I realized that you were probably legal so it shouldn't have been hard to find you through government records"

"And did you find me that way?"

He shakes his head. "No. I found you through your boyfriend..or husband.. whoever he is to you"

"Soon to be husband"I correct. "Ah"

"But how did he...?"

He smiles. "Crazy actually. I took a visit to the prison. He was the only inmate that was quiet and respectful. I don't know if that was because I was there or because he was scared"

I laugh when he says quiet and respectful. That doesn't sound like Aufiero at all.

"But anyways, he was very intelligent and I was fascinated by his knowledge. I came back the week after to visit him. I just wanted to know what he did to be in there. It kind of suprised me. But, while we were talking, he told me about you and your son. I didn't think nothing of it, of course, but when I signed out, I flipped through his portfolio"

He looks down at his watch and then back at me. "There was a picture of everyone who came to visit him. When I seen your picture, I immediately thought about your mother. I figured that I'd take the chance and found out you were."

I smile. "Good thing you took that chance"

"I know right. When I got the information saying you were her daughter, I wanted to send for you right away but I didn't. Believe it or not, but, I got nervous. I didn't wana rush anything. Didn't wanna jinx it y'know so I waited for Aufiero to come home."

"This is so weird and crazy"

"It is but It's life"

Aufiero

"So why didn't you tell me he came to visit you while you were in prison?"Noelle asks walking into the room. "Well damn, I don't get a hello"

She laughs. "Sorry, hello, but answer my question"

I shrug. It hadn't really settled in my mind that we were dealing with the president. "I don't know. I kind of forgot it happened"

"You sound like my mom"She says. "How does anyone forget something that happened with them and the president?" She closes her eyes and flops down next to me.

"What yall talk about?"

Sighing, she curls up next to me. "I don't really feel like talking about it right now. Where's Noni?"

"Asleep. He cried for like an hour after you left"

"Why?"

I smirk. "Because he wanted to go to the green house with you"

Her laughter fills the room. "MOMMY!"Noni yells. Great, she woke him up. Covering her mouth, she tries to contain her laughter. "Sorry"

Noni climbs on her lap and rests his head on her chest. "I'm hungry Aufiero"

"Call room service"

"You are room service"

I sigh heavily before pinching her arm. "We're not gonna play this game Noelle"

She laughs. "Can you cook us something though" I shake my head. "Your cooking is the best, c'mon Aufiero"

"Nope". She purses her lips and stands up, placing Noni on my lap. "What are you doing?"

"Obviously I'm about to cook"She retorts. "What the fuck are you about to cook, air? There's nothing in there. You have to call room service"

She grabs the phone and places an order. "See, that wasn't so hard"

"Yes it was."

"Loser" She gasps. "You're a loser"

"You're a loser"I repeat. "Your face is a loser"

A wide smile forms on my face. "You are so childish"
