Omertà, Aufiero's Return

Chapter 15

"Aufiero, can I talk to you" 

He nods. "Noni, your mom and I are gonna go in the back for a second. Come get us if you need anything" 

"Yes sir" 

Aufiero gets up and follows me to the back. He takes a seat on the bed and waits for me to began speaking. I take a deep breath. 

Here goes nothing.

"Uh, there's something that happened during my pregnancy that I havent told you about"

He sighed, and then sat up. "What happened?"

"Um, I was like.......kidnapped.......and I got pushed down a flight of stairs. Noni almost died. I was really weak for a long time. The doctors said I only have a 30% chance of ever having a child again." 

"And you're just now telling me this.....?"

"Yes......."

"Jesus Christ Noelle. You're always fucking keeping secrets from me. How do you expect me to trust you when you keep bringing up these damn secrets. What else happened while I was away? Please tell me now before I get more angrier than I already am."

"Nothing else happened, I promise"

"Who pushed you?"

My gut is telling me to tell him but I really dont want him killing anyone else. I can't have that guilt inside of me. "I dont know"

"NOELLE DONT FUCKING PLAY WITH ME. WHO THE FUCK PUSHED YOU?"

"John" 

"John? You're kidding me right? John would never do anything like that"

"And you also thought Maso would never betray you but you were wrong"

He rolled his eyes. "This isnt adding up" 

"Nothing ever adds up"

Aufiero rolls his eyes. "John's my uncle. That man helped raise me. For him to push my fiancee down the stairs is stupid and I dont believe he did it" 

"Are you being serious right now"

"Yes, I am"

"Wow. This is why I dont tell you things. You never believe me. You always think Im lying"

"Maybe because you are lying"

"Just whatever Aufiero" I say shaking my head. "Fine. We'll go to his house tonight. He'll tell me the truth. And when he tells me the truth, I want you to tell me the truth."

I walk away from Aufiero. He's being an ass and I can't deal with him. "Noni, you wanna go to nona's house?" 

"Ooooo yes"

"Ok, go get your shoes"

Aufiero's POV 

I know what type of person my uncle John is. I know he'd never hurt Noelle or Noni. I get in my car and follow her to my moms house. 

As soon as I walk in, she turns away from me.

Two can play this game. 

I pull my phone from my pocket and dial uncle John's number. 

"Aufiero, long time no speak"

I chuckle at his comment. "Hey uncle John. I was wondering if you could come over to my moms house?'

"Right now?"

"Yeah"

"Yeah, sure, Im on the way"
