Omertà, Aufiero's Return

Chapter 16

Here I am once again, locked in someone's house. Only thing about it this time is that Aufiero might not come save me. I lean my head against the wall. Im fucked. 

"John told me you're a snitch" 

I look up at the tall figure in front of me. Sighing, I look back down. "So you're not gonna answer me huh?" 

I keep quiet. "Have you not learned about disrespecting us Italian men?"

"Who are you?" I ask. "Don't worry about that. John  told me to handle you"

"Of course he did" I murmur. He laughs and turns on the light. Im in a room. A nice room. Better than that one Biagio had me in. Hopefully, these people are nice and wont give me a bag of food with five fries in it. 

"So, you're Aufiero's wife?" He asks sitting on the bed next to me. "Yes" He smiles. "I would think that since you're married to one of the most feared men in the mafia that you will know the rules"

"I do. But that doesn't mean I follow them"

"Well, obviously. You wouldn't be here if you'd followed them" I roll my eyes and shift on the bed. "When can I go home?"

"You're not going home."

"You cant keep me here forever. I have a child to raise."

"We'll see about that"

"What do you mean?"

He smirks and walks out the door. I pick up the closest thing to me and chuck it at the door. "YOU CANT KEEP ME HERE FOREVER" I scream.

Aufiero

I pull up to my moms house with Noelle on my mind. I wasn't able to sleep last night. All I could think about is what happened while I was away. I pray that she really didn't sleep with all those men but she probably did. I walk up to the door and knock on it. I stand there for about 5 minutes until someone finally answers.

"Sucks to have your key taken away from you doesn't it?" My dad says letting me in. Noni looks at me and quickly looks away. "Hey Noni" I speak. "Hello"He mumbles. "What's wrong son?" He looks at me and wipes his eyes. "We cant find mommy"

I look at my dad to try to get some kind of answer. "What is he talking about?" 

My mom comes from the kitchen and hands me a paper. 

If you really love your wife, you'll come get her before she dies. You have 9 days and thats it. 

"Okay, what do I have to do with this. Im not going to save her."

"Aufiero, she's your wife despite whatever happened between you and her she is the mother of your son and you vowed to protect her" 

"Mom, what dont you understand about I hate her. She can rot in hell for all I care"

"I raised you better than this"She says before walking off. I sigh and pull my car keys from my pocket. "C'mon Noni lets go" He perks up. "Are we going to get mommy?"

"No" 

His face saddens again. "Where are we going then?" 

"Home"

"But we gotta get mommy"

"Noni, lets go"

Tears began falling from his eyes. "Noni, what have I told you abo-

"I JUST WANT MY MOMMY" He screams. 

My mom walks back in and stares at me. "You need to get her back before those 9 days are up Aufiero"
