Today's review is on Yona of the Dawn, or Akatsuki no Yona.

I love this series. It's so amazing!!! The animation is beautiful and the story is great. Also there is much shipping.

The story revolves around Princess Yona, who for certain reasons is driven out of her castle with her bodyguard, Hak. In order to take back her throne, they go on a quest to find 4 legendary warriors who are said to have the blood of dragons and have sworn to serve the royal family.

or something like that. I'm trying very hard not to spoil anything.

Diving into the characters now!
Yona is super adorable but also very oblivious. Hak makes it painfully obvious that he's interested in her but she's always just like "Oh, stop teasing me!" Or "Aww, I love you too," in a friend sense when he obviously doesn't mean it like that. However, Yona is also incredibly stubborn. In the beginning of the series, she can't fight at all, and that's one of the things that makes this series so real. She doesn't suddenly turn into a warrior princess overnight. By the end of the anime she can barely shoot a bow, and she can't wield a sword. It's very realistic and I love it.

Hak is wonderful. Not only is he super handsome, he's also a great caretaker. He is always focused on keeping Yona safe, which only makes me ship them more. Plus he's really powerful. He pretends to be cool but we all know that he's really kinda dorky.

However, I would say Kija wins the dork contest. Before I continue, let me say: KIJA IS MY BAE. I AM SO IN LOVE WITH HIM LIKE WOW
DANG
MMMM
KIJA THO
Okay, moving on. Kija is the most adorkable character in this series. He has the blood of the white dragon, which means he has the right arm of a dragon. It's pretty cool. He pretends to be tough but he has this fear of bugs and I'm just like "omg bby come here I luv you"
Kija is the best. I love him.

Next up we have Shin-ah. He's pretty popular in the fandom. He has the blood of blue dragon, which gives him the eyes of the dragon. Basically he can kill people by looking at them. Because of this, he wears a mask. He grew up believing he was a monster, so he hardly talks at all. AHHHH, I love him too. Not as much as Kija though. Shin-ah might be the most tragic character in this series. Maybe.

And then we have Jae-ha. He is fabulous. Like Poland from Hetalia. Jae-ha has the blood of the green dragon, which gives him the left leg of a dragon. Correct me if I'm wrong. Basically he can jump really high and far, it's like a step down from flying. He spent some time as a pirate so he's also pretty good at fighting. Jae-ha is definitely the flirt of the group.

The last of the dragons is Zeno. He is also very adorable. Zeno has the blood of the yellow dragon. I'm not going to say what his special power is though, because they barely introduced him in the anime. I don't want to spoil anything for those who aren't caught up with the manga. However, I will tell you that despite Zeno being super cute and happy and there are seriously no words for me to describe him, he is tied with Shin-ah for being the most tragic character. Also he's right under Kija in my list of favorite characters. So don't you dare start thinking he's useless!

The next member of the Happy-Hungry Bunch is Yoon. He's the group mom. Though, he doesn't have dragon blood and can't fight either, this self-proclaimed "pretty boy" is one of the most useful members. He does all of the cooking and healing. I think that everybody would die if they didn't have Yoon. That's actually one of my fears. I'm scared that one day Yoon will go into a town to buy some supplies and get back to the others to find them all dead because that group of dorks couldn't take care of themselves.

And finally, the most important character-Ao, or Pukyuu. Ao is a little squirrel that Shin-ah made friends with and it just stays with them. Ao will ride on their shoulders and really just sit and look cute. That's their job.

So there you have it! That's Yona of the Dawn for you. I highly recommend it and if you haven't read the manga then go read it now!!! It's very good, but I must warn you that at one point it does get kinda gory. Certain heads go flying. That's all I'm saying.

Thanks for reading!
