Okay, let's get this straight before we start: I love cutesy anime about idols just as much as the next weeb. Maybe even more.

Since all of the reviews I've done have been about shows I really love, I thought I should do one about a show I didn't like quite as much. And so here I am today with AKB0048.

I love shows about idols. I love AKB48. However, when you mash those things together with space battles and dystopian society that has banned entertainment, it just becomes a little too weird.

That's basically the show right there. The characters are adorable and lovable, and some of them have good back stories. There was just something about the show that I didn't like. I can't place my finger exactly on it, but it stopped me from watching the second season. Maybe it was that the show was altogether pretty cheesy.

It was okay, all in all. If I had to rate it, I'd say 3/5 stars.

UPDATE:
5/16/16

Something brought me back to this anime. I don't know what it was, but I suddenly found myself really wanting to watch it. So, whilst working on my Sailor Venus cosplay, I started watching the second season.
I haven't finished the second season yet, but so far it's pretty good. The plot has definitely developed more and I actually find myself asking questions. Also, Chieri is waifu. Like seriously, she's so adorable how can you not love her????
In conclusion, I've found that I enjoy this anime a lot more now that I've come back to it. Maybe it's because I admitted to myself that yes, it is ridiculous and stopped thinking about it too seriously.

Overall, I give it a new rating of 4/5 stars.
