"Hey Ross!" I said happily, walking up next to him as the school bell rang.
"Hey Robyn!" He said back. "Hey, walk back to my place with me. I have something to show you."
"Sounds Great!" I smiled.
Ross was my best friend. Ever since we were 6. We were juniors in high school now, and our friends always tell us that we should date, but we like things the way they are:)
"So what do you wanna show me?" I asked, pulling out my phone to tell my mom I was going to his house.
"Hmmm.. Not telling!" He laughed, knowing i hated surprises.
"Ross Shor Lynch." I said chasing him down the sidewalk.
"Hey!" He yelled back.
We chased each other to his house, both out of breath as we walked inside.
"What happened to you guys?" Rocky asked when we walked past him in the kitchen.
"Nothing. Ross was just trying to get on my nerves again." I said nudging him with my elbow.
"So nothing new pretty much." Rocky laughed as we joined in.
"So you wanna see or not?" Ross asked throwing me a small bag of chips and a bottle of Starbucks Vanilla Frapuccino. They were both our favorite!
"Finally." I said dramatically.
"Just come on!" He opened the back door.
He led me down the little path behind his house we always go down.
"Ross, seriously, where are we going? We've done this hundreds of times!" I asked, trying to keep up with him.
"You ask too many questions." He smiled, grabbing my hand.
After about 5 minutes of walking, trough the trees and grass, we reached the big field with the pond.
"Always so beautiful." I smiled, swinging our hands back and forth as I looked at the water.
"Yeah." He answered, agreeing.
"C'mon!" He said pulling me over to the tree we found when we were 10. We go up there at least once a week, almost like a tradition, but we don't have to remind ourselves. We just do it.
I started climbing, higher ad higher, with Ross not far behind. I finally reached the taller branch wher I always sit. I leaned against the branch in a lounging position and Ross reached the top, and sat next to me.
"So What is it Ross?!" I asked, really curious now.
"Sssshh..." He whispered.
"What?" I said a little quieter.
"Look." He said, pointing to a little birds nest next to him.
"Oh My God!!!" I whisper-shouted.
There was 3 little fuzzy birdies in the nest, sleeping.
"I know you love stuff like this, so I had to show you!" He smiled. I scooted closer to him to look at the little birds. I tried to reach over him, but..
"Ross!" I screamed, losing my balance.
"Robyn!" He yelled, reaching down as fast as he could to grab my hand. Almost to late, but not quite.
"Are you okay?" He asked with a worried expression on his face.
"Y-yeah. I'm fine." I said, still scared. He pulled me back onto the branch and put his arm around my waist to make sure I didn't fall again.
"Hey, do you hear that?" I whispered.
"Yeah, what is th-" he looked down. I glanced at the ground to see what he'd seen and... Oh My God.
When I fell, I must've bumped the nest, because there was a little... Lifeless... Baby bird on the ground. I couldn't take it. I loved animals too much and it broke my heart.
Tears formed in my eyes, and a few spilled over.
"Robyn." He said looking over at me, seeing my face.
"Come here." He whispered hugging me tightly. I buried my head in his shoulder.
"Robyn. It's okay." He rubbed my back.
"I feel terrible. I just murdered a baby bird Ross." I cried.
"Hey, it'll be okay. Trust me." He wiped a few tears away with his thumbs.
"Thanks Ross." I whispered, hugging him.
"Anything for you." He smiled. "Anything for someone so... Amazing."
"Ross, I just killed a baby bird. I'm not very amazing." I laughed lightly.
"Robyn. You are so amazing. You're amazingly beautiful, amazingly smart, amazingly talented, amazingly caring..."
"Ross, really-" I started.
"No. You are amazingly amazing and I've been wanting to tell you for a long time... I Love You Robyn."
"Well... I guess this is as good as a time as ever to tell you.. I Love You Too, Ross Shor Lynch." I smiled, and kissed his cheek. "I always have."
He laughed lightly.
"What?" I asked.
"Nothing. Just Happy." He smiled.
"Me Too."
I was about to say something when his lips crashed on mine. Not violently or anything, just sudden and surprising.
I kissed him back and I didn't feel fireworks. Or sparks. I felt atomic bombs, going off in my heart, just causing everything around to just disappear. Like it was just me and him.
He pulled away after around 10 seconds. "Surprise." He smiled.
