(Y/N)'s P.O.V.
I quietly walked through the hallways while Angela followed behind me.
Neither of us said a word.
The only thing you could hear were our footsteps echoing through the mansion halls.
"So..." I finally spoke up.
"You and Kurapika are really from the same clan?" I asked.
"I believe so..." Angela replied softly.
"You don't sound too sure."
"It's because after the massacre, I never thought I would ever meet another survivor..." she looked away.
I stayed quiet after that.
Somehow... I understood that feeling.
The feeling of thinking you're alone.
We eventually reached the library.
"He should still be here..." I mumbled as I slowly opened the door.
Creak~
Kurapika stood near the large windows while reading a book.
As usual.
"Kurapika." I called out.
"Hm?" He looked up from his book but then suddenly froze.
His scarlet eyes widened.
"..."
Angela stood there quietly.
Kurapika slowly lowered his book.
For the first time ever...
He looked completely speechless.
Angela took a small step forward.
"Those eyes..." she whispered.
Kurapika's grip on the book tightened.
"...Who are you?" he asked quietly.
"My name is Angela."
Silence filled the room.
"I was told..." she continued.
"...that you knew my younger brother."
Kurapika's eyes widened even more.
"Pairo."
The moment she said that name—
The book slipped out of Kurapika's hands.
Thud.
I flinched at the sudden sound.
"...Where did you hear that name?" Kurapika asked.
His voice sounded different.
Not cold.
Not calm.
Shaken.
Angela looked at him sadly.
"Because Pairo was my brother."
The room fell silent.
I looked back and forth between the two of them.
Kurapika slowly walked towards Angela as if he couldn't believe what he was seeing.
"That's impossible..." he whispered.
"I thought everyone was gone..."
Angela smiled weakly.
"So did I."
Before I knew it, Kurapika grabbed her shoulders.
"How did you survive?!"
I jumped a little from his sudden outburst.
"I-I was hidden away before everything happened..." Angela answered quietly.
Kurapika immediately let go of her and looked away.
"...Forgive me."
Angela shook her head.
"You don't have to apologize."
Silence filled the room again.
But this silence felt...
Heavy.
I quietly stared at Kurapika.
This was the first time I had ever seen him like this before.
The first time I saw him lose composure.
The first time he looked...
Lonely.
Kurapika looked at Angela once more.
"...Did Pairo ever..." he paused.
"...mention me?"
Angela smiled softly.
"He talked about you all the time."
Kurapika froze.
"He said you were his first real friend."
His expression softened.
And somehow...
My chest hurt a little seeing him like this.
Wait...
Why does it bother me so much?
Suddenly—
Creak~
The library doors opened.
"Ah, so this is where you all were."
We looked towards the door and saw Asael standing there.
But his expression suddenly changed when he noticed Kurapika's scarlet eyes glowing brightly.
"...I see." Asael muttered quietly.
And for some reason...
The atmosphere suddenly became tense again.
