(Y/N)'s P.O.V.

The atmosphere in the library became suffocating.

No one spoke.

Not even me.

Asael quietly looked at Kurapika while Kurapika avoided his gaze.

"...Scarlet eyes." Asael finally spoke.

Kurapika immediately tensed up.

Angela looked between the two of them nervously.

"You knew?" Kurapika asked quietly.

Asael sighed and leaned against the doorway.

"Angela told me everything a long time ago."

Kurapika stayed silent.

"...I didn't think there were any survivors left either."

The room went quiet again.

I hated this awkward atmosphere.

"So..." I crossed my arms.

"Are we all just going to stand here dramatically or what?"

Asael chuckled a little.

"You haven't changed at all."

"Tch."

Angela suddenly looked at Kurapika.

"...Would you like to sit down?" she asked softly.

Kurapika hesitated for a moment before nodding slightly.

The four of us sat down near the large windows of the library.

For once...

Kurapika looked uncertain.

It felt strange seeing him like this.

"So..." Angela smiled softly.

"Pairo used to talk about you all the time."

Kurapika looked up at her.

"He did?"

"Mhm." she nodded.

"He said you were always serious."

I immediately laughed.

"That definitely sounds like him."

Kurapika sighed.

"...I wasn't that serious."

"Yes you were." Angela and I said at the same time.

The room became quiet before Angela suddenly giggled.

Even Asael smiled a little.

Kurapika looked away.

"..."

Wait.

Was he embarrassed?

OH THIS WAS TOO GOOD.

"You embarrassed, Kurapika?" I smirked.

"I am not."

"Your ears are red."

"They are not."

I leaned closer to him.

"Oh my gosh they actually are red—"

Suddenly—

THUD!

The entire mansion shook violently.

"What the hell?!" I stood up.

A loud explosion echoed from downstairs.

Servants started screaming.

Kurapika immediately stood in front of me protectively.

His expression instantly changed back to serious.

"Stay behind me."

Another explosion rang through the mansion.

CRASH!

The library windows shattered.

"DOWN!" Asael yelled.

Kurapika immediately pulled me down before glass could hit me.

My eyes widened.

That was close...

Outside the broken windows, smoke slowly rose into the sky.

Angela's expression darkened.

"...Nen users." she muttered.

Kurapika narrowed his eyes.

"...No."

His scarlet eyes slowly glowed.

"They're here for the Kurta clan."

Silence.

My heartbeat started getting faster.

Wait...

What?

Suddenly—

A terrifying bloodlust filled the room.

Even I froze.

"...Interesting." A distorted voice echoed from outside.

"I didn't expect to find scarlet eyes here."

Kurapika immediately stood up.

His aura exploded throughout the room.

And for the very first time...

I felt genuinely scared for him.
