I walked out of Potions class the next day with my arms full of parchments that had homework assignments on them, of course Professor Snape was the only professor who decided to load us up with homework right before the Yule Ball. Speaking of, the Yule Ball was tomorrow night, almost precisely twenty four hours away, and I couldn't have been more excited for it. Fleur, Claire, Hermione, Ginny, Angelina, and I all had dates, so we all planned on getting ready in the Room of Requirement together starting early tomorrow.
"Hey Britt," Fleur called from behind me. I turned to face her and smiled, wrapping my arm around her shoulder.
"Hey," I answered as we walked up the stairs from the dungeons to the ground floor. "How's Roger?" I teased, meaning the boy that she was going to the ball with, Roger Davies. She blushed and giggled girlishly, pushing me playfully off of her.
"He's fine, how's George?" She teased back, smirking at me.
"Fine," I answered. "You excited for tomorrow?"
"Of course," she said very matter of factly. "My parents sent me my dress a few days ago, did I show you?"
"No, you didn't! But I guess I'll see it tomorrow, what does it look like?"
"It's silver, and it has this decal thing that travels up one shoulder, it's fantastic, you'll love it," she explained quite vaguely as we walked into the Great Hall. She started to head over to the Ravenclaw table to sit with Roger, but I grabbed her arm and stopped her.
"I'll see you tomorrow, we're all meeting in the Room of Requirement at nine in the morning, Angelina told you how to get there, right?" I asked, smiling and letting go of her arm when she nodded. I walked over to the Gryffindor table and sat in between Ginny and George, across from Harry, Ron, and Hermione, Fred was next to Ginny.
"Hey," George said, smiling over at me.
"Hey," I answered, smiling as well. "Did I tell you about the holidays yet?"
"No. What's going on?" He asked, his brow furrowed slightly.
"My dad and I are going over to your house," I explained, smiling when I saw Ginny start to celebrate, but my smile quickly fading when I saw George lower his face into his hands.
"Mum's going to go bonkers, bringing out my baby book and old embarrassing pictures to show you, and dad, dad'll be just embarrassing us relentlessly. And your dad, your dad, is going to just tease us constantly," George groaned, shaking his head. I laughed and patted his back for a moment, my hand trailing on the one spot on his broad shoulder.
"Who cares?" I said, smiling when his eyes met mine. "I'm sure my dad will be just as embarrassing, baby pictures and old embarrassing stories of my childhood, there's plenty of those."
"I'd love to hear some of those," he teased, that certain mischievous glimmer that I loved so much in his sparkling hazel eyes.
"Likewise," I answered, trailing my hand about half way down his back and just leaving it there.
"Britta, you could stay in my room, if you'd like," Ginny said quietly, a smile on her face. I smiled back at her and cupped her cheek.
"It would be a pleasure," I said, forcing my normal British/French accent into a strictly British posh voice. "Thank you so much, Gin."
"I think I like your normal voice better," George teased, making me blush a bit. "How'd that combination come to be? You don't hear of many people with an accent like that."
"I grew up in Britain, went to school in France and learned French, the two accents kind of combined," I answered, shrugging as I turned to eat my food, my hand still lingering on George's back. "The French comes out when I say certain words."
