Madys Pov

The Manor was huge, even I haven't explored the whole thing. Large French doors opened up to a long hall, portraits of long dead ancestors were on either side and small tables held old magical artifacts.

My room was in the corner farthest from the front door. It was on the second floor in a wing no one ever walked through.

I used to have a room next to my parents but when I got back from my first year I'd found my stuff in the room as far away from them as possible.

Best welcome home present ever right?

We had an unnecessarily large dining room, and a ballroom we only used once a year. The kitchens were rather large and we had enough guest bedrooms for half of Hogwarts.

We didn't use most rooms though. You could make half the house disappear and no one would notice.

The best part was the library, it was like the one in the muggle movie, Beauty and the Beast. I watched it at Lily's house once when I snuck out.

I've spent days in the library, I'd sleep in the big cushy chairs and the house elves would bring me food. It had a bathroom so I didn't need to leave for that either.

My main goal when I was at home was to avoid my family. They were fine with that too because they could find me easily if they needed to. I spent most of my time in the library or my room.

My parents room was through a different hallway that you could only get to from the main hall.

There weren't any other rooms in the hall which seemed like a waste of space to me.

Sammy had my old room which connected to my parent's. I wasn't allowed to go in their room but it was the quickest way to Sam's so I often ignored that rule.

I tiptoed down the hall and slowly and silently opened the door. No one screamed at me so I slipped inside and walked across the room.

I opened Sam's door and walked inside. It was very different from when I was there. The old pastel purple was now baby blue and it was filled with baby toys.

I walked over to his crib and set him down carefully. I'd always had a fear of dropping him.

He smiled up at me and started making weird baby noises.

"Mada" he said.

Wait. Did he just say my name? He'd said things like hi before. He was also a big fan of no. He could say some basic words but he hadn't said names before.

"Mada" he said louder. I smiled at him, "you are the cutest baby ever."

"MADA!" He shrieked. I winced at the sudden increase in volume.

He grabbed my finger and started squeezing it. "Okay, I'm Mada, do you wanna say anything else."

He just smiled at me and began playing with his foot. "Okay, I'll see you when your naps over." I turned to walk away but he began screaming and crying.

Oh boy. I gave him my hand and he quited down. After several attempts to leave, I realized that I wasn't going anywhere until he fell asleep.

I stood there for twenty minutes, bored out of my mind. I looked at the clock for the seventeenth time when I heard soft snoring.

I gently removed my finger from his hand and tried to walk out the door.

I had almost made it when I heard a loud crack. "Madilin, Michael told me I could find you in here." My mother said.
