Mady's Pov
This year has been amazing so far and I'm only a week into it. For my first five years I haven't had much choice in the classes I took. almost every year I took the main classes; charms, transfiguration, potions, herbology, etc.
But now I can choose from so many classes. I don't have as many advanced classes during the week so I have more time for studying and other classes that I'm interested in. I signed up for medicinal magic, advanced divination, and advanced defense against the dark arts. Medicinal magic is probably my favorite class I've ever taken. My teacher, Professor Charlotte is amazing.
She let's me stay late after class to practice my spells and I can borrow any of the books in her library and I've spent the past week with my head in a book.
I think Lily and Sirius have noticed. Lily is overjoyed by the fact that we can just sit in silence together as we read but I don't think Sirius is as happy. I haven't noticed but according to him, our conversations are becoming fairly one sided.
I was very impressed when he tried to join me but he nearly lost his lunch when he saw some pictures of an infected cornish pixie bite.
Defense Against the Dark Arts is getting slightly more difficult but I've been learning so much. I'm in all advanced classes because I did well on my OWLs. My lowest grade was an A in History of Magic but the fact that I got a grade that high is frankly a miracle.
Advanced classes are almost the same as normal classes except you get more work and you only have class a few times a week. We've had a little bit of extra time in DADA the Professor has been teaching us ways to defend ourselves without magic. He said that soon we could learn sword fighting.
I've also been thinking of maybe going to extra medical school once I graduate from Hogwarts. To work at Saint Mungos all I need is an advanced medicinal education here but it couldn't hurt to learn more about the muggle ways to heal someone.
I sat in the restricted section of the library, looking through books about how the Black Plague affected wizards.
If you can avoid it, do you're best to never see a picture of the side effects. They're horrifying and incredibly graphic.
Sirius walked up next to me and I shut the book so he wouldn't loose his lunch. "Hey." I said but he looked at me with a serious look that I rarely saw on his face.
"I'm a little confused." He began. "Confused about us because I thought we had something and we've been talking more but you don't seem to like me back the way I like you." He said.
"Sirius I like you and I really think you have changed but I'm not just going to drop everything and fall in love with you right away. I want to actually get to know you first and I'm just warning you, I've been so busy with school I don't know if I have time for a relationship. I'm in all advanced classes and I gave up a free period for an extra class." I explained.
"Why on earth would you trade a free period for a class?" He asked shocked.
"Because it's a class I really enjoy."
"Mady I am horrified at the words coming out of your mouth." He joked.
I rolled my eyes at him. "School isn't that bad." I said. "You just have to find a class that you enjoy."
"That's not gonna happen." He tried to convince me.
"What do you want to do when you get older? You have to pick something, you can't just do nothing when you get out of school." I said and I could see his brows furrow.
