3rd Person Pov

Lily looked over at the four boys suspiciously as they walked across the common room. Poor Remus looked as if he was on deaths door and the others had expressions of pure despair. Lily sunk deeper into the large armchair and buried her head in her book. She watched them leave the common room and debated whether or not she should see what they were up to. Finally, her curiosity got the better of her. She stood up and followed the others out the door stealthily. For someone who was an avid rule follower, she was surprisingly sneaky.

None of the boys noticed as she followed them through the castle. "It's getting dark out. We put this off for way to long, we should've left twenty minutes ago." Sirius said and James kindly told him to suck it.

Remus groaned in pain and clutched at his stomach. "Don't worry mate, we're almost there." James did his best to comfort him.

They were heading in the direction of the whomping willow when Lily tripped over a tree root and fell down, drawing the attention of all four boys. "Go!" James nodded to the others and walked towards her angrily. "What the hell are you doing here?" He demanded and his voice was filled with anger and terror.

"I was curious, I wanted to know what you were doing." She defended herself as he pulled her up off the ground.

"Please go back to castle Evans! It's dangerous out here please." He begged her desperately but she refused to budge. Suddenly a howl filled the air, she glanced up at the full moon and gasped as a wave of realization hit her. James's expression of anger was quickly replaced by one of blind panic. "Go back to the castle Lily now!" He begged.

"What about you?" She asked as the terror was beginning to sink in.

"I'll be fine Evans trust me. Just run!" He exclaimed and she finally listened. She began to sprint in the opposite direction only turning back once to see what was happening. Se saw a passage had opened up in the trunk of the whomping willow and a stag and a dog were trying to force the werewolf into it. That was enough to carry her all the way back to the castle.

Her first instinct was to find a teacher but for some reason she didn't. She wasn't sure what would happen to Remus if the teachers didn't know until now. He might get expelled or maybe something even worse.

She was hyperventilating and on the verge of tears when she ran directly into Mady who immediately dropped her school bag and grabbed Lily's hand.

"What's wrong? Is everything okay?" She asked with worry in her voice. Lily shook her head and a sob escaped her. Mady pulled her into a nearby deserted classroom and locked the door. "What's wrong dear? Is it Severus? I swear to god I'm going to rip his greasy hair right out of his head!" She pounded her fist into her palm but Lily shook her head.

"N-no it's the boys, it's James and Sirius and Remus th-they." She stutter and took a shaky breath. "You have to promise not to tell anyone." She managed to get out.

"I won't, I promise." Mady said and maintained her calm demeanor.

"One of them -Remus I think- is a werewolf. I-I just saw them, James he tried to protect me he told me to run so I came here." Lily choked out.

Mady purses her lips and nodded. "I've known about Remus since summer holiday. Don't worry about James, they've been helping him for almost two years now. All the professors know about Remus, probably not the other boys though." Mady did her best to explain.

"Do you think James is gonna be okay?" Lily asked and Mady nodded. "Of course he is Lils, now lets go back up to the common room. We'll see them tomorrow morning." Mady tried to reassure Lily but even she was worried herself. The two girls left the classroom and hurriedly walked towards Gryffindor tower. It was eight o'clock when they entered their dorm and sat down on their beds. Mady left to take a shower which left Lily alone with her own thoughts. She sat on her bed, fiddling with her blankets and imagining all the horrible things that could go wrong tonight.

Alice came into the room at nine and made Mady leave the bathroom so she could have a turn. Mady rubbed her eyes and crawled into bed exhausted but Lily was wide awake. She couldn't quiet the thoughts running through her head.

In the early hours of the morning, she finally decided to take a sleeping drought and eventually she drifted off to sleep.

The Next Morning

Lily lurched up out of bed with a start. She looked at her clock. Six thirty. The sun was just starting to rise as she threw on a Weird Sister's T-Shirt that probably belonged to Alice and an old pair of shorts. She grabbed her wand and ran out of the dorm.

At top speed, she sprinted out of the common room and through the castle. She didn't stop until she was standing a safe distance away from the whomping willow.

She stood there nervously waiting for something to happen. At half past seven, the deadly tree froze and she saw the four boys emerge. They were beaten and tired but overall unharmed. They all looked at Lily and their faces fell but a huge smile broke out across her face. She hurtled towards them, past James and Sirius and into the arms of Remus. She threw her arms around his neck and he froze in confusion for a moment before hugging her back.

"I was worried about you Remus." She breathed out and released him from her iron grip.

"Why did you follow us last night?" He asked her and she rolled her eyes. "You told me you were going to be studying naked. I'm not an idiot, I knew something was up." She said.

"And you don't think I'm a monster?" He asked.

"Remus John Lupin!" She began to scold him. "You are by far, the kindest and smartest man I have ever met. I would be insane to think you're a monster. You do everyone's laundry for christs sake, you're basically the mom friend. You are definitely not a monster."

There were tears in Remus's eyes when he pulled her in for another hug. Though he towered over her, the way Lily treated him was like that of an older sister.

"Thank you." He whispered and Lily could've sworn she heard him cry a couple times.

"C'mon, let's get back to the castle." Lily said and tried to subtly wipe away the tears that plagued her face.

"Were you worried about me too darling?" Asked James in a loud voice. She couldn't help but smile at the almost proud look that stretched across his face. She wasn't sure what it was.

"Y'know, up until fifth year I was his darling." Sirius said wistfully and Lily sighed in exasperation. "You four are impossible, I have know idea how I manage to stay sane with you all hanging around." She said with an unusual touch of pride in her voice. "Now get your asses up to the castle. Mady's probably waiting for us in the great hall." She ordered and her boys all headed up to the castle with a content expression on their faces. They were truly happy and there was nothing that could ruin their mood.
