(Amanda's POV)
Olivia and I are walking into the squad room going over the case that we just received. A tall, handsome man with a mustache came up to us in the middle of our conversation.
"You must be my new detective." Olivia said smiling.
"Detective Dominick Carisi, Jr. Call me Sonny." he said outstretching his hand.
We both shook his hand. I couldn't take my eyes off of him. He was really hot...
"I'm Sergeant Olivia Benson. Welcome to the Manhattan SVU." Olivia said with joy.
I finally came to my senses when Carisi noticed I was staring at him. He was laughing a little bit. Olivia had gone into her office.
"And you are?" he asked gleefully.
"What? Oh, sorry. Detective Amanda Rollins. Nice to stare at you. I MEAN meet you...." I said.
Oh shit. I hope he didn't realize what I said.
"Nice to meet you too, Amanda." he was still smiling at me.
"So uh...I'll show you to your desk." I said and I was blushing and smiling like an idiot.
I walked Dominick over to the empty desk, it was across from Nick's.
"Here's your desk." I said and stared at him once more.
"Thanks. So uh...are you going to stare at me all day or give me some personal space?" he asked laughing.
Oh my gosh, his laugh is adorable.
"Sorry. You're just-" I stopped myself.
"I'm just...what?" he was curious about what I had to say.
"Nothing." I tried to walk away.
"No, really. What?" he asked and he was getting really close to me.
I could feel the heat coming off his body. I could smell his cologne and he was staring into my eyes.
"Beautiful." I said breathily.
He smiled at me. Oh my god he smiled at me.
"Thanks, but you're gorgeous." he said in return.
I could feel my face getting hot. I was blushing. I smiled once again and I couldn't stop. Olivia must have been watching us through her office window because she came out.
"Hey, you two! Stop romanticizing and get to work. The case isn't going to solve itself." she said.
She laughed at herself and shut her door.
Sonny and I continued to stare into each other's eyes.
"Well, I better head over to my desk before Sergeant tears me a new ass." I said while laughing and began to walk to my desk.
"Hey, Amanda, I was wondering..." he stopped me. I turned around.
"Yeah?" I was smiling again. Jesus, I really have to stop.
"Would you like to go get a drink later or something?" he asked politely.
I thought about it for a minute.
"Yeah. Yeah, I'd like that." I replied and turned back around and went to my desk.
My god, I feel like a teenage girl again. Having a boy that you like sit just feet away from you and your heart starts racing. Wanting to kiss him.
The day went by so slowly. We had spoken to the victim and we tried to ID her attacker but there was no hope. We'll try again tomorrow I guess.
I checked my watch after rereading the case file for the 800th time. It's 9:00. It's time to go out with Sonny. He walked over to my desk.
"Hey, ready?" he asked sweetly.
"Uh...yeah. Just give me a sec." I said excitedly.
"Okay." he said and went back over to his desk where he gathered his keys and his coat.
I put the file back in its folder and I shut my laptop. I looked at the picture of my sister and I when we were younger. I got a lump in my throat. I haven't talked to my sister in a really long time. Ever since she went to prison we haven't said a single thing to each other. I really miss her. My eyes welled with tears.
I came back to reality and I walked over to Sonny. I held my tears back.
"Okay. I'm ready." I was playing with my blonde hair.
"Let's go. Hey, you okay?" he said and he locked arms with me.
Oh my gosh, he's such a gentleman!
"Yeah, yeah, I'm fine. Just allergies.." I lied.
I didn't want him to know about my sister yet.
We went out to his car and we drove to a bar a few blocks over. It was a private bar.
"Well aren't you just a fancy pants." I said giggling.
"Eh, not really. I just wanted to take you here because you're so beautiful." he smiled and he was really close to me.
We were standing on the sidewalk watching as people blew past us. Our gaze was locked on each other. I couldn't hear anything else around me except for the sound of his voice. I couldn't see anything but him.
"It's kind of cold out here, come on." he smiled and opened the door for me.
I walked inside and he took us over to the bar. We sat down and ordered drinks. I felt a little bit awkward because I had never been in here before. Plus, I only met this guy a few hours ago. It's also been a long time since I've had a drink.
"So, tell me about you." he said.
"Uh well...I've worked at the Manhattan SVU for about 3 years. I was transferred up from Atlanta because of something that happened to me on the job...but it's not important. Anyways, what about you?" I felt so stupid for saying that.
"What happened to you?" he asked concerned.
"It's nothing..." I started staring off into space.
"Amanda? Amanda?" he snapped me back into reality.
My eyes had tears in them again. He touched my forearm gently.
"Hey, sweetheart, what's wrong?" he whispered and my body relaxed.
I looked away in the other direction, holding back my tears. He put his arm completely around my shoulder. A small squeak released from my mouth.
"I know you're lying to me. What is it? Please, tell me..." he was so sincere.
"It's...its nothing, Sonny. I-I have to go..thanks for this. I'll see you tomorrow. Bye.." I got up and literally sprinted out of the bar.
As soon as I got outside and onto the sidewalk, the tears escaped my eyes and streamed down my face, streaking my makeup. I felt so uncomfortable. I felt so exposed. Sonny knows something happened to me. I should've never had said anything.
I feel so stupid. I leaned up against the brick wall of the bar and just let the tears flow down my cheeks. The door of the bar opened and he came out.
Sonny looked to his right and saw me standing there.
"Hey-" he began but I took off down the street towards my apartment.
He wouldn't leave me alone. He followed me all the way to my apartment building 4 blocks over. He was so determined to make sure I was okay.
He kept calling my name but I kept ignoring him until I had to stop to get my keys out.
"Amanda, I know you aren't okay and I know it wasn't nothing. Please, talk to me. I'm here for you." his voice was in a soft whisper.
I turned to look at him and his face sank into a sad frown. He was worried.
"Amanda, you're crying...what is it?" he was so persistent.
I didn't say anything. I just broke down into a full cry and ran into his arms. He wrapped his arms around me and played with my hair.
"Hey...hey....its alright....shh...." his voice was so deep and his grasp on my body was so tight yet so reassuring.
"Sonny, I-I was raped." I couldn't stop crying.
My heart stopped. I could not believe I just told him.
"Amanda, I am so sorry." I could hear his voice beginning to crack.
"It was...my boss's boss, Deputy Chief Patten. He called me his 'good girl'." my tears flowed rapidly.
"Was he ever convicted?" Sonny asked softly.
"No. I didn't even testify. I didn't even press charges because I knew it would end up being the classic 'He Said, She Said' so I didn't even bother. But it doesn't matter. It's over. It's in the past. I never have to see him again and that's all that matters." I said and I pulled away from the hug and got my keys out of my purse.
I went inside the building and got on the elevator. I saw Sonny through the glass doors on the other side before the elevator doors closed. His beautiful body standing there staring back at me. His face had a worried and concerned look on it yet it was so peaceful. He mouthed something to me.
"Call me."
But the way he said it wasn't a 'I wanna see you again' it was more like 'I care about you and I want to make sure you're okay'.
I rode the elevator up to the 6th floor and I went down to my apartment, Apartment F.
I unlocked the door and went inside. It was dark so I turned on the lights. I pulled my white coat off and hung it on the hook behind my door. I slipped my shoes off and threw them under the coat on the floor.
I walked back into my bathroom and looked at myself in the mirror. My black eyeliner streaked down my cheeks. I looked ridiculous.
"How can I face going to work in the morning? I can't walk into the squad room knowing that Sonny knows." I said to myself.
I washed my face to get rid of all the makeup. I felt so much better.
I went to my bedroom and flicked the light on. My bed was still unmade from this morning because I was in a rush since we got a new case. I stripped my clothes off and got into my pajamas. I was so tired and so miserable. Depression was starting to sink in.
Flashbacks were starting to occur occasionally. Just great.
I went out into the living room and turned all the lights out, nearly falling over on the way back to my bedroom. When I entered my bedroom, I shut the door and leaned against it. I sighed and looked at my bed with passion. I really need sleep. I am so tired.
I shut the light out and climbed into the bed, plugging my phone in to charge on my night stand.
I pulled the blankets over me and lay there. My muscles relaxed and my mind began drifting into subconscious. I fell asleep.
