I woke up in a daze, in the back of an ambulance. My vision was beyond blurry and I couldn't hardly move. I could see figures standing around me but I couldn't make out who it was. My hearing was terrible too.
"Who-who's there? W-what happened??" I was scared out of my mind. I had no idea what was going on.
I heard a familiar voice. It was a woman's voice. Then I heard another but it was a man's.
"You collapsed on the street and hit your head." the woman said.
"Yeah, I chased after you and once I got outside I saw you lying there on the ground." the man said.
I rubbed my eyes which cleared my vision a lot. They were Olivia and Sonny. I threw Sonny the dirtiest of all looks.
"Why are you here?" I said in an annoyed tone.
"Because I care about you, Amanda." he said.
"If you cared about me, you wouldn't have stood there and watched me suffer." I was beginning to shout.
"Hey, hey, calm down. It's alright. Sonny did the right thing by not going into that room. Amanda, you need to learn to talk about what happened to you, or it'll eat you alive." Olivia said and she had a good point.
"It's just....it's so hard." I whispered as my eyes welled with tears.
"I know, sweetheart. But I'm here for you." Sonny caressed the back of my hand and stared me in the eyes.
He's never looked at me like this before. Maybe he really does care...
I grabbed his hand and held it tight. I was nauseous. What happened??
"What caused me to collapse?" I asked quietly.
"You had a major anxiety attack. Your breathing was out of control and you weren't getting enough oxygen to your brain so you passed out." the paramedic said as he put a needle in my arm.
I closed my eyes and laid my head back. I just want to go home and never leave my apartment. Sonny brushed my hair out of my face and behind my ear.
We got to the hospital and they took me into the emergency room. They rushed me back and Olivia & Sonny came with me. The doctor came in almost immediately.
"Hello, Ms. Rollins. How are you feeling?" he asked.
"Well, um, besides the fact that I had an anxiety attack and passed out, I guess I'm still pretty horrible." I blurted out.
Olivia gave me a dark look.
"Why so?" he was curious.
I got a huge lump in my throat. Olivia stood up and whispered in the doctor's ear. He nodded.
"Okay, so too personal things? Well, I can assure you I'm going to do everything I can to help you out. Now, you passed out due to an anxiety attack, correct?" he said.
"That's what I was told." I looked down at my hands. Sonny's hand was clasped between them.
"Ah yes. Lack of oxygen to the brain. That's very common in major anxiety attacks. Hyperventilation can lead to that. I know exactly what to do for that. I'll be right back." he smiled and left the room.
I looked at Olivia who was deep in thought about something.
"Are you with us, Liv?" I asked snapping her out of her trance.
"What? Yeah...sorry..." she whispered.
"You okay?" I was concerned. She didn't look too good.
"Yeah, I'm fine. Just. Little flashback, that's all." she said and shook her head.
We all sat in awkward silence until the doctor came back.
"I'm going to give you a prescription for an inhaler. It'll help with the anxiety attacks. Whenever you feel one coming on or are in the middle of one, just take this and it'll help with the hyperventilating." he laid it down on the bedside table.
"Thank you, Doctor." I said meekly.
"You're welcome. After all, it is my job. Alright, have a good evening." he giggled and left.
I looked at Sonny and broke down into tears.
"Hey, what's the matter?!" he moved closer to the bed.
"I'm so sorry for the way I treated you. I'm such a bitch. Why would you want to be with someone like me??" I looked him in the eyes.
"I wanna be with someone like you because you're beautiful, sweet, funny, and everything a guy could ask for. I understand why you lashed out on me. That's common for someone who has PTSD. I'm not mad. I promise you." he kissed my forehead and everything felt so much better.
I looked over at Olivia who was smiling at me. Sonny pressed his forehead to mine and I could still see Liv.
"You deserve happiness." she mouthed to me.
After a while, I was discharged from the hospital. I was so drowsy from the medicine they gave me. I was dizzy and I was walking really wobbly.
"Hey, here..." Sonny came over and put my arm over his shoulders, helping me walk.
"Take me home." I said softly.
"No, you're coming to my house. I want to make sure you're okay." he said nicely.
"Sonny, I'm fine." I said sternly.
"No, you aren't, and you know it." he said as he sat me in his car.
He really does care about me, I'm falling in love with this man more than anything. He's the best man I've ever been with. I stared at him as he got into the car, and I was even realizing it.
"Uhhh, what are you doing?" he asked and giggled a little.
"What?" I snapped into reality.
"You were staring at me." he laughed.
"Was I really? Oh...sorry." I looked away.
He leaned over the divider in the middle and put his hand under my chin. I turned and looked at him.
"Don't worry, about it." he whispered and he slowly leaned in closer until our lips finally touched.
We kissed softly for a while. It felt amazing. I could feel the electricity flowing through my body and his energy radiating from him. He put his hands on my cheeks and deepened the kiss. I hand my hands resting on his chest. I never wanted to let go of him.
