Twenty Five

The gun shot echoed through the air, all of us turning our heads to the window. I grabbed mom's hand " Mom" " It's okay baby" Mom tried to calm me. " That gunshot was load, walkers for miles could have heard it" Andrea sighed, " Get the guns ready, just in case.".

The front door opened, Daryl and Glenn ran in. " Rick back yet?" Glenn asked " No we thought he was still out there with you" Mom answered, " We heard the gun shot and came running back. How's Amber doing?" Daryl asked " Daryl" I called, walking into the room. Daryl's eyes widened as he pushed past everyone and wrapped his arms around me.

" Dont you ever scare me like that again" he spat, holding my face gently. " He really did a number on ya.", " It still hurts.". Daryl turned my head, looking into my eyes " This wasnt Randall was it?". My eyes watered as I shook my head, swallowing a lump in my throat " It was Shane.". " But we don't know that for sure" Andrea spoke up in Shane's defence. " Nah we do. We found Randall in the woods, he was a walker but he had no bite.". Daryl explained " But his neck was broken. Shane caused all of this.".

" Like I said, he did it to get dad into the woods and kill him. Why won't you believe me?". I asked, " Baby, Shane wouldn't hurt your daddy, he loves him. They've been friends since way before you were born. Shane wouldn't betray his friend like that.". Mom tried to soothe me. " But he'd fuck his daughter and get her pregnant without any regard to how dad feels?" I spat, " I keep telling you, that isn't Shane anymore! The Shane we knew is gone, that man is a monster!" I cried.

A scream left my throat as a second gunshot went off. " What the fuck?!" I cried, " Baby calm down" Mom touched my shoulder " Don't touch me!" I yelled, pushing her away. " Daryl, could you please go out there and find Rick.". " Of course, I'll bring him back alive.".

We all went to the front porch, and froze when we saw all the walkers slowly surrounding the farm. " Daryl" I cried " It's alright, you go inside. We'll handle this.", I nodded and went inside with Beth and Patrica " Hey, its going to be alright. Beth get Amber some water.".

" No, I don't want water. I want my dad", " And we will find him but stressing yourself out isn't going to help. It could hurt your baby.". " Good!" I spat. " Amber you don't mean that" Patrica tried to reason with me " Yes I do, this thing inside me is the only thing keeping me linked to that asshole! I hope-" " Don't you dare finish that sentence. The baby isn't at fault, they're innocent in this, just like you.".

I grabbed Patrica tight as the gunshots went off. We turned to the window, Hershel was shooting the walkers that got too close to the house, the men, Maggie and Andrea went out in the cars to stop anymore getting close.

" I cant find Carl!" Mom yelled, " I've searched the whole house, hes not here.". " Maybe he's in the barn, maybe he set the fire" Carol spoke up. " The walkers are getting too close we need to go now!".

We all ran outside, " Hershel its time to go!" Mom yelled as T-dog pulled up in his blue car with Andrea. " This is my farm, I'll die here before its taken from me.". " Hershel please its time to go, we need to go!" Mom yelled, pulling us all towards the car.

Andrea pushed me to the car first, going back for Beth and Patricia when a walker came out of no where and bit her. Beth was screaming, Mom and Andrea pulled Beth from Patricia's grip and got her in the car. Carol ran towards the shed as walkers surrounded her.

Mom got in the car and shut the door as Andrea shot the walkers around Carol, before hitting the ground as a walker fell on top of her. T-dog hit the gas and drove as fast as he could away from the farm.

Mom held Beth and I as we cried. T-dog drove all night. " We need to go back" Mom spoke up " Towards the highway, if anyone is alive that's where they'll go.". " No, what we need to do is head east, towards the coast like we should have done in the first place.". T-dog spat. " Rick and our group will be waiting for us" " Or they're all dead, we cant risk it.".
