Chapter 4: Love, Then Suspicion

2 Years later~
Today was our last day of training before we got to pick what corps we would join. I wanted to join the recon corps.. I've always wanted revenge on that colossal Titan that wrecked the outer wall, including my house with my mother inside.

We were split up into groups.
One was on top of the wall, one was working on fighting skills, and 3DMG skills. I wanted to work on my fighting.

I was working on hand to hand combat with my bestfriend Sasha. Then Bertholdt came by. Behind him was a seriously injured Jean I'm guessing was his last partner. I kinda got scared, getting the feeling he came over here to practice with me. Sure his strength was attractive but I don't wanna end up a seriously injured y/n.

Sasha was about to throw a punch when Bertholdt came up behind her and tapped her shoulder.

"Excuse me Sasha, u don't mind if I practice with y/n for a bit, do you?" Bertholdt asked.

Sasha looked back and smiled at me. She always knew I had a crush on Bertholdt.

"Oh of course Bertholdt!" Sasha exclaimed then skipped away.

Over the past two years Bertholdt and I have gotten.. Somewhat close. We'd talk almost everyday and spend time together during the holidays.. He was my guy- bestfriend. But over a few days it's as if he's changed.. He became more interested in talking with either Reiner or Annie ALOT! Not that it was a problem.. But he became quiet.. More quiet. More shy and awkward. It was like every time we talked, he meets me for the first time again. Reason why I was nervous when we came by while training.

"Oh..Hey Bertholdt!" I said trying not to show any nervousness

"Hey y/n" he said looking at me with loving eyes. He just.. Stared for a bit.. I stared back not knowing what else to do.

It seemed as if we were the only ones in the training field. Like time stopped when we locked eyes. I started blushing badly and I wanted to hide but I couldn't. I wanted to keep looking at him.

He then started moving.. Toward me. Slowly, but it was still too fast for me to keep up. Before I know it, I felt something warm and soft touch my lips. My eyes widened and my heart started beating million miles an hour when I realized what's happening. But I closed them to savour him. He pulled me close to him. Then..

"GET A ROOM!"

Bertholdt and I both stopped to look at Connie who yelled at us.

Bertholdt then gave me a mischievous smirk and picked me up bridal style and headed towards the boys sleeping cabin. Once we were there, I realized this was so out of character of him. So I asked,

"Bertholdt.. What's wrong?"

He looked at me then said something I'll never forget.

"I... I love you y/n.. After that night I wanted to be with you but instead I was always nervous and I avoided you. But now I don't wanna avoid you anymore!"

It was quiet.. Bertholdt was blushing, and I.. Was happy.. It's been awhile since I felt actual love.

The only way I could think of how to respond to that was to just kiss him.
That's exactly what I did. I could tell he was surprised by my action but he calmed and wrapped his arms around me, as did I around his neck. The kiss became for fast and passionate. Bertholdt then lifted me up so I had my legs wrapped around his waist, and he carried me to what I was guessing is the bed he sleeps in. He basically dropped me on the bed then pulled his shirt off and pinned me down while going back to kissing me. It felt so warm.. My heart was beating so fast.. He then moved down to lick and kiss my neck but we were suddenly interrupted by a knock on the cabin door.

"Bertholdt?" Said a guy's voice.

"Uh.. Yeah Reiner?" Bertholdt said while getting up off the bed.

"It's time.." Said Reiner. Then he walked away.

Bertholdt looked nervous again.. Just like that night couple years ago.

"Time for what bertholdt?" I asked a bit worried.

"Um.. Training! Yeah training I was supposed to be with him during training!"

"O-oh.. Ok" I looked down, worried that he may be lying. Bertholdt looked at me, smiled and bent down to kiss my forehead.

"Look y/n don't worry, I love you."

"I love you too Bertholdt."

I walked out of the cabin with Bertholdt. And headed toward the training field to Sasha, then I saw Bertholdt re-group with Reiner and a girl I knew named Annie. They were talking and Bertholdt still looked real nervous. Then they just walked away from the field. Curious, I decided to follow them. If Bertholdt isn't training with Reiner like he said he was, what's he doing leaving the training feild?
