Chapter 7- Whats wrong with Luke?

I froze there staring at him sob for a few seconds, until he noticed me.

"Go away." He snapped at me.

"Luke oh my gosh! Are you ok?"

Whats his problem, he just yelled at me. I've never seen Luke this angry and upset before.

"My m-mom."

"What about her? How is she doing?"

He rolled over in the opposite direction, wiping a few tears from his face then looked me straight in the eyes.

"She's having trouble breathing."

My heart literally dropped, and goosebumps took over my whole body. I had no further questions. I dove down on the bed, and Luke sat up. I wrapped my arms around him and hugged him so tightly. My heart was breaking for him.

He pulled away and looked at me and just cracked a little smile.

"Your the best Ray."

Yeah, yeah. The best... I just had my lips on his best friends face. Yep, I'm definitely the best.

"Yeah, so do you want to go see her?" I asked.

"I just came back from seeing her, while you were on your date. She was suppose to be released tomorrow but I guess that's not happening now."

"So they don't know what's wrong?" I questioned.

"They said something about her heart not working properly, I don't remember the name." He said.

"Oh-" He doesn't even let me finish my sentence.

"How was your date?"

"Ok listen I don't know how to tell you, and I don't want to tell you, but I'm just going to go for it because you'll find out eventually... Josh kissed me."

"Oh."

That's it? "Oh" that's all he has to say.

"So that's it." I said surprised

"Well I knew it would happen. So did he ask you out?" Luke wondered.

"No, I pulled away and ignored him the whole ride home, it was so awkward." I admitted.

"How so?"

"Well I like someone else."

I shouldn't have said that.

"Who?"

"I'm pretty sure we've already been through this dummy." I said giggling.

I need to take Luke out. He's miserable, the poor guy needs to leave his bed. I held his hand and pulled him off the bed until he stood up.

"Rayna Elizabeth! What are you doing?"

"Going on a date." I joked.

We were at our favorite place in the world.

We used to come here as kids. It was a walking trail, we'd sneak out of our house and meet up at the trail in the evenings when the sun was setting all the time, play there for hours and our parents to this day haven't found out. There was a beautiful beach at the end of the trail. That's where the night swimming would take place. After we'd lie on the beach and dry ourselves off before returning home. So many childhood memories have been made at this very spot me and my best friend Luke were standing at.

"Why are we here?" Luke asks.

"I want to go for a swim obviously. Why else would we be here?"

Luke laughs, I guess he's now remembering the amazing times at this beach.

"So." I said awkwardly.

"So let's go swimming!" Luke chuckled.

Luke came over and lifted me up into his arms and threw me into the water. I knew he was going to do this so I grabbed him by the arm, and hauled him in with me. Luke sat down on the shore with the waves rolling up and hitting him up to his shoulders. I decided I should join him.

"So when are you going to tell me who you are crushing on?" He asked smirking.

"How about you tell me first."

"Ok, it's easy you!" He blushed.

I already knew this. I just wasn't exactly sure what to think of it. We are best friends.

"I like you." I managed to slip it out.

"Well that's good, I would ask my best friend what she thought of me asking the girl I like out, but your kinda both of those people."

It's happening. The moment I dreamed of way to many times.

"Yeah I guess I am." I said feeling the huge smile form on my face.

"Rayna Gomez will you be my girlfriend?" He asked holding my hand.

I didn't even have to think of an answer I automatically knew exactly what I was going to say.

"Yes. Luke I want to be your girlfriend and best friend all at the same time." I said excitedly.

Luke rose up from where he was sitting on the beach and pulled me up with him. He just kept walking and never said a word.

"Lukie, where are we going?" I started laughing at his nickname.

"To my house, for a movie night."

"What if I don't want too?" I teased.

"Well Ray that's just to bad cutie, because you don't always have a choice." He turned around and winked at me.

"I'm wet, I need to go home and change." I wasn't trying to make excuses or anything.

"Ill walk you home you can get changed then we can walk back to my house." He said.

Thank God my house was only in a short walking distance from here.

"So what movie is it?" Luke asks.

"How about Mean Girls?"

"I've watched that like 300 times no way. How about something scary? Like Cabin In The Woods?"

"Ok sure I like that movie." I was super excited now.

All I could think about while watching the movie is Luke asking me to be his girlfriend. Like I am his. He is mine. Rayna and Luke. Luke and Rayna. Something just didn't click. I had no idea what. I think I'm just crazy scared to loose Luke. If something did have to happen where we broke up, I don't know what I'd do. If we can't keep our friendship, maybe this isn't a good idea. Maybe I'm making a huge mistake.

Authors note: The part you all knew would come eventually. Luke and Rayna date. Poor Josh though he likes Rayna. Btw I just wanted to state that I didn't start writing this book expecting people to actually read it. I wrote it for me. I'm obsessed with teen fiction novels and I thought it would be cool to make one myself. So if this kind of sucks I'm sorry lol. Hope you liked this chapter though if your reading this.
