Best Friends Forever

Chapter 8- Hold on tight.

"Josh what do you want?"

I was currently in the same ice cream shoppe as him. What are the odds that we'd be at the same place at the same time. He's literally the only person in all of California I didn't want to see.

"I want you." He smirks as he continues poking me.

What the Hell is that supposed to mean. What's his problem I wish he'd just leave me alone.

"Hi, how can I help you?" The cashier asked smiling.

"I'll have two scoops of cookies and cream." I stated back.

I just wanted to see Luke I don't feel safe around Josh he's acting weird lately. And after last night I'm not exactly sure if I should even be talking to him right now.

I walked over laying my penny board on the floor upside down so it doesn't roll anywhere. I sat down at a little table for two, I could already here the footsteps coming from behind me. He poked my side and I just glared at him. Then sitting down in the empty seat next to me, he started eating his ice cream.

"So how was your date last night."

He's going to drive me insane until I tell him that me and Luke are dating.

"I'm dating Luke." I confessed.

"Woah girl chill out. I wasn't flirting with you. I was asking you a question."

"yeah but-" he cut me off.

"He knows that you kissed me last night right?" Josh said winking.

"No! That's not true you kissed me!" I scowled at him.

"Nope I'm pretty sure it was the opposite of that, but it's ok we don't need to tell anyone. We'll keep it our little secret." He winks at me and walks out of the shoppe with some kind of badass strut going on.

He's such a jerk. I can't believe he'd do something like that. What if he tells Luke. What am I supposed to do then?
Who's he going to believe? His best friend or girlfriend. With my luck probably his best friend. Whatever Luke has the choice to believe whoever he wants.

I then got up and started walking out of the shoppe while I heard someone yell my name. I turned around to see Trevor and Colby at the front by the desk.

"Hey Rayna!" Colby yells.

"Hi."

Oh my God, what if they seen me with Josh. I didn't want to have any further conversation with them. So I just turned back around and quickly ran out, before they could get another word in.

I spent the rest of my day watching Dawson's Creek on Netflix, since Luke was working at his new job. Yes Luke got a job, at a little cafe in the mall. I'm actually pretty proud of him, it's his first job. It's 5:30 pm, Luke gets off at 6:00. I'm going to go surprise him and pick him up, since he doesn't have a car of his own. He can't take his moms to work, so she drops him off.

California's crazy for traffic. It's a long way there I should get going. I grabbed my phone, keys, and purse. Heading down the stairs I heard my mom.

"Where are you a going sweetie? Dinner ready?"

"I'm actually going to pick Luke up from work. Is it alright if I skip dinner?" I asked.

My moms face seemed kind of disappointed. I'm never home anymore. She must think I'm really upset with her about the whole move thing. She's trying her best to make it look like a fun thing, but it's in no way fun.

"Oh,uh, ok. Will you be home tomorrow night? I'd like you to help me start packing somethings."

"Yeah. I guess." I rolled my eyes walking out the door.

I got into my white Jeep Wrangler, and drove off to the mall. My mom is actually making me move, the only thing I'm worried about is Luke. My mom doesn't know about us. I haven't even thought about it though, how am I supposed to say bye to Luke. It's going to be close to impossible.

The drive to the cafe was long, and traffic was super crazy, but I was so excited when I finally got there because I hadn't seen Luke since a few nights ago.

"Hey Rayna!" Luke yelled out.

"Hi Luke, I'm here to pick you up. This job is making me really upset." I confessed.

"How so?"

"Oh c'mon we're going for a drive."

"Ok one sec." He says, going to the room with a sign reading "employees only." Minutes later he comes back in his normal khakis, a black and white baseball tee, and black vans. He's so stylish. It's actually super cute. Once we got back into the jeep and drove off in the direction of Luke's house I thought it would be great to start a conversation.

"Ok Luke we need to talk."

"Your not breaking up with my already?" He said laughing a little to hard at his own joke.

"No Luke, but seriously. I'm moving in like three weeks."

"Yeah your point?"

How can boys be so stupid, and not take a hint?

"My point is... Well u-umm to be honest I don't know what my point is. Just never mind." I said kind of upset that he wasn't taking this conversation seriously.

"Ok Rayna there's obviously something going on. I need to know what that something is now!" Luke demands.

Wow he's being serious now!

"Long distance is terribly hard. Not that I've experienced it but I just know."

"Ok, I know. Ray you need to chill out and stop being so worried about your future. It's going to be fine, your overthinking the whole moving thing." Luke said so calmly.

How dare he say I'm overthinking and need to chill out! It's completely normal to be stressing over this. Right?

"Where is it going to lead us Luke?"

"I don't know. That's a problem for another day, all I know is that your my best friend and I refuse to loose you. Now c'mon lets go for a board ride!"

"No, actually I'm just going to go home and help my mom with a few things. I'll see you tomorrow. Goodnight Luke." I said hugging him.

"You are not leaving me home alone again tonight. c'mon Ray, we haven't skated in forever. And I really missed you today."

"Alright fine we'll go for a short board ride." I gave in.

"That's what I thought." He said smirking. Then pecking his lips with mine, and heading off to get our penny boards.

Authors note: This was a pretty boring chapter. Just needed to take a chapter to introduce new things. Hope you liked it though. if you didn't to bad. 😜 Do you think long distance will last?
