Movie is over and it's time to say goodbye. We all walked out slowly and sadly, knowing that all of our summer adventures were coming to an end. I was moving, school is starting soon. Summer was so short.
"So..." Colby says seeming almost lifeless. This was his way of hunting that it was all over. "This is it!" I blurted out.
"I'm going to miss you guys all so much!" I started tearing up. We were now standing outside of a movie theatre entrance in the middle of the night. The whole street was vacant except for the 5 boys standing in front of me.
"I'll miss you too." Trevor said. "Me too!" Colby agreed, while the other boys stayed silent. Then Josh came over and pulled me into a hug, surprisingly instead of trying to kill him I hugged him back.
"I'm sorry for everything I put you through Ray, I was just having fun." Josh admitted.
"It's whatever." I stated. "Bye Josh."
"Bye Rayna, good luck in the future." I couldn't help but smile at the first time Josh had been nice to me, since we met. I then watched him slowly walk to his car. I walked over to Trevor.
"Thank you so much for everything Trev, you're my fav" I said looking at Luke. "Well my second fav!" I winked at Luke. He laughed, hugged me quickly, and also continued off to Josh's car. Colby followed behind Trevor waving bye to me.
"Have fun in Canada Ray!" He yelled.
"I'll try my best." I sighed.
"Rayna, I've only known you for a very breif period of time, but thank you for being an extremely friendly person, it feels like i've known you forever. I hope you can come visit us in the future!" Jack ranted. "I'll really miss you."
"Thank you Jack, I'll miss you too!" He then came towards me and instead of hugging me like the other boys he shooke my hand.
"It was nice meeting you!" He said then walked to the car with the three other boys. I watched the car exit the parking lot with a heavy heart. I waved to them all, Josh barmped his horn and that was it. They were completely out of my site.
"I guess it's just me and you." He smirked.
"This is no time to make jokes Luke." I said. "I'm about to die!"
"Why?"
"I'm leaving tomorrow!" I screamed. "Is that not sinking in?"
Well yeah it is, but theres really nothing we can do about it anyways."
"Thats correct, but aren't you at least a little upset over the whole fact that i'm moving countrys?"
"Yeah, I'm actually terrified of it to be honest. I can't picture my life without you. I can't go to school and not see you between classes. Or go to partys without you, or hang out with the boys alone, without you. It's killing me to let you go."
I had nothing to say to this. I was speachless. So I just walked to my Jeep. Luke followed behind me. We left the parking lot just as the boys did a few minutes ago. Not a word was spoken. Not a destination was chosen. Nothing. I felt lifeless and dead. Like I was loosing my whole life. Only I didn't need to feel like it. It was actually happening.
"Hey, uh where am I driving?" I asked Luke.
"Your the one with the steering wheel in your hands, not me!" He joked.
Seriously though where was I going at 12:30 am. Everything was closed except for a scattered gas station, or Mcdonalds. Other than that where was I going?
"Have you ever got in your Jeep and just decided to drive, and keep going until you can't possibly go any furthur?" Luke asked.
"No thats stupid. Why in the Hell would I want to do that?"
"I dunno you tell me."
I looked over at Luke who was now laughing at me.
"What?" I questioned.
"You're so stupid."
I felt kind of offended, until I realized that I got what Luke was trying to say.
"Ohh!" I said. "You're insane. I'm going home." I announced.
"Um, why so you can say goodbye to me earlier and go home to your stuffed bears, netflix, and packing boxes together while crying a bucket full of tears? No way fuck that!" He pulled out his phone and turned it off. "Now keep driving!" He demanded. Then he grabbed my phone out of the cup holder next to him, and shut it off too.
"What are you doing? What if my parents call?" I shouted.
"Rayna. Chill out, I'm sure they wont care if your out a little later then usual on your last night here."
"Ok, fine but where am I driving?"
"You have gotten into your car with your boyfriend. Then he told you to drive. You listened. Its not that hard."
"I know what I'm doing. But where am I going." I asked.
"Rayna sometimes life brings you down, and you just have to give it all you've got and crawl back to the top. It may be hard. But you have to pick up the pieces and continue on no matter what happens. And thats what I'm doing right now. Except I have picken up my pieces I just don't know where to go next, so I thought maybe if I keep going with no destination in mind, I may or may not find what I'm looking for. So why not just give it a shot! C'mon Rayna, what do ya say? Travel with no destination? Help me put the pieces of my life back together?" I could see Luke peering at me from the corner of my eye.
I didn't know what any of that even meant. All I knew is that it has never felt so right to do something this wrong. So why not.
"Yes Luke! Yes. We are travelling with no destination. Let this adventure begin!"
Little did I know that Luke was intoxicated.
